S2000. Is it fast? Serious question here.
ok. im pissed.
I dont own a s2k, but I AM A DYING LOVER OF S2000.
It is..................just....beautiful......... just perfect.
HOWEVER. I must say SH^T. because im disappointed.
I went to clubrsx.com forum. Where all the RSX owners are.
There are also alot of VW owners, Toyota owners including mitsubishi owners.
One thread. They were talking about how they raced S2000.
This Jetta was racing with S2000 on high going above 100mph.
The guy who saw it said "it was dead even", and was amazed. so am i.
A JETTA????????? my dear lord, please tell me that isn't the truth.
And many RSX and VW owners replied with saying stuff like
"yea S2000 isn't all that fast at all. they are slow. they dont deserve a sports car name"
"with few modifications, our RSX Type-S can take them"
"1.8T with bolt-ons/chip could take S2000 no problem"
Maybe i need some awaken i guess.
(i thought S2000 runs 13s....... is it true that s2k runs mid 14s?)
I didnt say anything in that thread, as I really dont know much about it.
All i can say to my self is right now is, "oh gosh stock S2000 is that slow?
this can't be true..im dreaming..
"
THIS SUCKS!!!!!!! So questioning. Ok. S2000 stock is slow?
What about modified S2000? I heard as S2000 is already fully tuned from the factory, it can't be tuned any better, maybe minor but not major.
damn it please tell me our only honda roadster is faster than this..

People hate on the S because they are jealous.
There is not question that the S is stock for stock faster than a
RSX TypeS
Jetta, whatever version
WRX
Get the car, learn how to drive it and you will pull on all these cars in 3rd gear and above.
remember also, straightline speed isn't everything. The S will destroy all the cars listed above on the track if you have a decent driver so again, learn to drive the S, that would mean you need to buy it first.

If your looking for a fast straight line car get an F body...you will not be happy with the S2000 long term. If you want a car that will put an incredible smile on your face EVERY time you drive it and one that will make you WANT to find CORNERS...get the S2000.
Once again this car is not a drag car.
And the performance of the car is really awesome when you are in the vtec zone. If not, anyone can beat you in a race. So it all depend of how you drive it. I have seen 13.8 by a stock s2k, but to do these kind of time you must know the car very well.
If you want to make drag race, just buy a mustang.

Jekyll, my suggestion is read a book, or take a basic auto class in your high school. That's what I did when I was your age and it helped me understand concepts such as those. The simple answer is tuning. The cars are built a certain way and then the mix of mechanical, belts, computers (these days) are tuned by the manufacturer and can be modified aftermarket to fit the needs of the owner.

A few points
1. Fast/Slow is a relative term. If you want from the factory fast with the manufacturers warranty get a C5 or the new Cobra SVT. If you don't care about the warranty (and make no mistake if you chip the car you have voided the warranty) get an old Mustang or F-body and build it up yourself.
2. Decide what you want. The S2000 is great out of the box if you want a excellent handling, RWD, relatively fast, driver intensive, convertible. If you are looking for a car that you can get great hp gains with a chip, exhaust, or header- this isn't it. Not to say the car can't be made faster, but nothing short of FI is going to make a substantial difference at this time in terms of adding hp.
3. If this isn't a sports car I don't know what is. The S2000 has RWD, a LSD, a manual transmission, a good lb/hp ratio, 2 seats, and relatively few creature comforts. In the US VW, Toyota, and Mitsubishi currently don't offer anything that I would consider a sports car. In fact other non-exotic imports that I would consider sports cars are: Miata, NSX, Z3, M coupe, Boxster, 911, and the upcoming Z. If you add domestics I would include the C5 and the Viper. That's it. Everything else either has the wrong wheels driving it (most imports), only comes in automatic (AMG), or is really a souped up coupe (M3, Mustang), or sedan (WRX). An economy sedan that you've added a chip, exhaust, headers and who knows what else is not sports car- it's just a very fast economy sedan. Not that there's anything wrong with that.
