Default 2017 S2000

This sounds more promising for a replacement S2000 than some of the previous reports:

Still underpowered. If it doesn't have at least 300 HP, I doubt I will be interested.

I agree on both accounts. The fact that Honda currently doesn't have a base platform for the new S2000 is proving to be a challenge, financially speaking. However, they really shouldn't skimp out on the power aspect here, especially if you're in the same market with the BMW Z4 and more specifically the Nissan Z-car. This isn't 1999. Honda has had the opportunity to sit back for a while now to scope out the competition. They really shouldn't have an excuse to not build a replacement S2000 far exceeding it's direct competition.

The new s2000 renderings are starting to come together into something promising.

It's funny how a 300 hp Boxster seems underpowered to me because it's not the S version, but a 300 hp Honda seems great!

Will we get at least an 8500 RPM redline? Will it weigh less than 2900 lbs? Will it mark a return to the level of quality Honda produced in the 90s and early 2000s? Time will tell.

Honda needs to do something or they will eventually become Mitsubishi V2. 2016 JD Power initial quality survey shows Honda averaging 111 initial quality issues per hundred vehicles, just above the industry average of 112 and well behind names like Toyota, Lexus, Infinity, BMW, Jaguar, Chevrolet, Buick, Ford, Ram, Kia, and Hyundai. Meanwhile Acura languishes near the bottom third below Cadillac, Nissan, Mazda, Mini, Scion, and Volkswagen.

Throw in less than inspiring styling, a sub-par dealer experience, and ho-hum performance and Honda is left with decent steering and handling, a few great shifting manual transmissions, and backup cameras across the line. And next year every car will have backup cameras.

Come on, Honda. Get your s**t together! Build another great car!

Article came out in Dec 2015. So far that I know of, there has been no spy shots or additional info posted with any updates.

I may be the only one here who feels this way but I really don't want it to be turbocharged. I want the same kind of engineering that went into the AP1 engine. I'd prefer a naturally aspirated engine.

And yes, I agree, it should be 200 lbs lighter.

I honestly would love to see a gas-electirc.
put in a small 1.0 liter turbo that is tied to a genertor and electrically coupled to batteries and a motor in the rear end, and possilbly the front end.
gas motor output around 180 hp.
let the motors be capable of generating 300 hp instantaneously but with a gazzillion foot lbs of torque since they are electric.

it would be an absolute screamer.
