When I have a rough day at work, jumping into the car and just driving down the freeway with the top down makes me smile. You don't have to go fast to enjoy the car....

I'm 60 and have owned muscle cars and sports cars and without hesitation the S2000 is the pick of the litter. I have an 00 I have owned for 4 1/2 years and I still peek in the garage to look at it on ocassion, especially today after I just spent 6 hours fully detailing it and wondering if I made the right decision to sell it in the local paper tommorrow. A sad day for sure but guess what!!!!! I have an 04 on order due for delivery in mid-april so the love affair continues. I could have chosen a Boxster, Z4, 350Z or maybe a Corvette but I came back to the "best sports car value" on earth. Like one of my "old" friends who is an owner said, "Its the most fun you can have with your clothes on" You wont be sorry!

Hi im one of the fifty something guys from the vintage owners.
If you can afford the ferrari, by all means buy that! We only have one life to live and I would rather be in a convertible ferrari or other supercar exotic if i have got the $$.
The S2k is the non-rich mans exotic as none of us are car poor after buying one of these S2k's. Its uncommon, in many parts of the country including where I live almost rare. One problem for the older is its a tight fit. My last car a jaguar XK8 was the other extreme. Super comfortable and still quick enough and sticky enough to give you that sports car buzz. And plenty comfortable. I am not that big and I long for an extra 1/2" in the width of the seat!
Also, the high revin is a beautiful thing but makes it a more tiring car to drive as in 2 downshifts to grab some torque / hp for that casual passing makes this not so casual as just tromping on the accellerator pedal in your hi-torque vehicle.

Overall I love my S2K as I
1.can't afford a ferrari or even my jaguar anymore
2. it gives you all of the race car buzz that you could desire
3. Its gorgeous looking and very well made
Its just a little too tight.

i think that is an appropriate question for any carnut...i have asked myself that question many times over the years and i have had over 20 cars..being one of those over 50 owners ....

sure no car is perfect and the more you get to know a car the more any fault comes through as well as the virtures...this car, after 4 months and 5000 plus miles is still a challange and a thrill to drive, it is unique, it has ample power and handling , better than 9 out of 10 cars on the road, it is beautiful to look at..inside and out...it is superbly engineered, a honda, has most features i want, and it all comes together as a great package for a somewhat reasonable price.

no oil use either, no mechanical defects....sure faults include the worst stereo i have had in a car since my 69 opel which did not come with a radio! the complete absence of analogue guages...oil pressure, volts, etc, which i would prefer, unable to unlock the passenger door without doing a yoga manuver, and it is a little tight...ok, all minor stuff, just part of the charater....like my collie, who sheds and barks too much, but is a great doggie anyway.

so is this the right car for me, i don't even ask myself that anymore...in fact if you have that question in mind it just may not be for you!

I used to own a Honda del sol VTEC and honestly I was nervous when I got this car thinking it is even smaller and the suspension is definitely sports car youcan tell if you run over a dime or a penny, but on the other side of that is the fact that if you are a roadster type personality this car is absolutely the choice I am so very happy and I live in Michigan where it is not a 365 days a year propostition.

Well, maybe that bodes well for me!

I discovered the S2000 back in 2001 when I was purchasing my Odyssey. I had no idea that Honda made a car like this. Since then, I've sat in more of them than I can count and I've test driven one.

At 6'2", just sitting in the car, it feels on the tight side, particularly my right leg between the steering wheel and the center console. My memories of the test drive was that, once under way, it felt great and any claustrophobia I might have felt while just sitting there, instantly vanished. Since that time, I've looked at Z4's (nice, more comfortable, but too pricey), 350Z Roadsters (on the large side and not really what I have in mind when I think "Roadster"), and a few other convertibles that really aren't roadsters.

Bottom line is, I keep coming back to the S2000. I'm working towards sometime this summer. I've just about got my Odyssey paid for and once that's out of the way, I'll be seriously in the market.

Drive Safe,
Steve R.

I guess I have kind of a different experience than other s2k owners...

I first drove an s2k back in July of 2001 when I was an intern at a law firm during college. I had to take this lawyer to the Honda dealership to pick up his car that was being worked on. Little did I know that it was an S2000...as recompense for giving him a lift to the dealership he let me take the car out for a spin. I remember the drive vaguely but I do remember the incredible acceleration and tight cornering. The S2000 soon became my dream car (I was in college so I wasn't making any money...I was driving a 1986 Toyota MR2).

When I decided to buy a new car a couple of months back I looked at several cars including the Toyota Celica, the Toyota MR2 Spyder, the Toyota Matrix, the Honda Accord, the Nissan Sentra Type-R, and the Mazda Miata. I figured that I just couldn't afford the S2000 but...

I was wrong. I was able to get a decent deal on a 2000 model for a little less than most of the above cars list prices. Granted, I'm paying out the ass per month (due to not so great credit) but it's totally worth it. I finally have a sports car that I am satisfied with. Sure, I could have gotten a new Miata or Celica for the same price with a nice warranty and 0 miles but I wouldn't have been completely satisfied.

The S2000 is simply a dream to drive. The only beef I have with it is the suspension is extremely tight but that's normal for any high-tech sports car. The stereo sucks but is easily replaceable. I know that I will have this car for a long time and I have the feeling I will never get tired of driving it.
