Four star frontal crash,five star crash side impact.Information from Comsumer Reports and are goverment crash tests.They noted the five star side crash rating was given even without side air bags which says a lot about structural integrity.

s2000 is pretty safe, 4star front impact rating and 5 star for the side impact. One of the safer roadsters out there. In the same class, the only car I can think of with better rating is the 350z which got 5/5 stars at least for the coupe.

Everyone on here can attest to seeing numerous nasty looking crashes in the S.. the car can be completely and utterly mangled and destoryed, flipped, and run into a tree.. yet the occupants always walk away with very little injury.

I swa pics and read a testimonial of a serious highway accident. I think the guy said his interior was intact and he walked away unharmed. I also know numerous people who got into accidents in their S2000s and none of them were ever injured in any way. Needless to say, all of the accidents involved loss of traction.

Thats one of several gnarly S wrecks we've seen posted on here over the years, and the occupants walked away with minor injuries.
As for rollover protection...the S has metal roll hoops behind each seat (they've covered with plastic but they're there), and the windshield/A-pillar is reinforced. It will standup about as well as any roadster can in a rollover.

the reinforced a-pillar and roll bar were tested by honda, since the US has no rollover crash testing. They rolled the car at 55mph, and the "occupants - test dummies" sustained minor injuries.
people have rolled their S2000 10 times, or gone off a canyon road, rolled down a 20 foot cliff, landed upside down, with the top down, and walked away.
do a search on this forum, and you'll see stories like this. there's even the one guy who wrote honda a letter, thanking them for over-engineering the safety into the S2000. his son and his friend were in the car, top down, and went off a canyon/edge. the car rolled, landed upside down, and they walked away. it saved his son's life. (i think that was on this forum that I read that)
