Seat belts, abs, air bags,

I can't be sure but I think the only addition in the AP2 would be traction and CDV.

Also, the suspension on the AP2 was modified to be less sharp than the AP1, and more predictable to the average driver; reduced tendency for snap oversteer.

The AP2 suspension is explained here:

Yeah but many will say it's been softening over the years so this is nothing new.

It been widely spoken that the softening of the suspension was for safety; no?

06+ receives VSA (Vehicle Stability Assist). That is the biggest notable safety change since the start. 06+ also receives sensors in the seats for airbag deployment.

06+ the airbag sensor will turn the pass airbag off if the passenger is light ie a child. i thought the owners manual for previous models specifically said not to carry young children due to the passenger airbag (potentially deadly snapping a neck).

08 got a tire pressure monitoring system i think.

and the real spring rate thing is that it shifted stiffness ratios. the earliest were stiffer in the rear than in front, and the later models are stiffer in front than in the rear. 06-07 are the least stiff overall, i believe, but it's not leaps and bounds softer if you sum the stiffnesses (except if you consider the stiffest, the CR)
