Nope, it's AWD, not rear wheel. Also, if I'm not mistaken, the mechanics involved are a standard FWD platform (like and Odyssey minivan) with the power take off needed to drive the rear wheels.

I looked on Honda's web site and they call the system a "VTM-4" management system. The didn't give a lot of detail on how it works but Acura uses the same system on their MDX and their web site said,
