S2000 Soft Top Research
Ok, so after installing over 100 soft tops or so, I've only recently caught on to something that appears to be an inconsistency with OEM tops. It's not something that I notice usually as I just cut old tops off and install new ones by the book so my end result is always the same and I never bother looking at the inside of the OEM's before the come off.
The question is in regards to the flap that attaches the the next to last bar on the top on 2002+ models. The flap is suppose to go around the rearmost bar and attach to the second to last bar. The end result it that the two last bars are pretty much encased in the flap. Here is a pic for reference (borrowed from another member, please excuse the pic theft and disregard the arrows)
I've noticed that a lot of them just end up going over that bar though leaving it exposed. I'm pretty sure my original top is this way as well.
The difference shouldn't change the operation of the top as the last bar only moves within the range of the flap anyway. The question though is which one is more common and perhaps is one installation leading to the infamous tear along the corner or causing other wear issues.
So, if you don't mind, please go check out your top if you have a 2002+. Post up if you have a top that looks like the first or second example and especially if you're getting wear in any part of the top around this area. Oh, and only vote in the poll if your top is original to the car and never been replaced.

Ahh, so the top picture the rear bar is covered, and in the bottom the bar is exposed?
