Default S2000 Specs

im just wondering, why do some sites say that the 0-60mph time for a 2001 S2000 is 6.2 secs while some say its 5.4 or 5.5secs?

Well, thats kinda a silly question...
with performance times there are so many variables involved, such as driver skill (main one), condition of the vehicle, tyres, weather, humidity, condition of the track/road they tested on...so of course there is going to be different times involved. Especially on a car like the S2K, with its peaky powerband and relatively low torque...making it difficult to launch compared to most cars. In fact the S2K has one of the biggest variation in performance times I've ever seen. You can run high 13's in it, or low 15's...

but its generally accepted that the S2K is a low-flat 14 second car over the 1/4 mile, with 0-60's ranging from mid-high 5 second range...if the driver has any idea what he's doing.

Depends on what kind of 0-60 they are doing...

Edmunds (6.2) tends to road test their cars like average people drive... so no 7k clutch drops... but Motortrend (5.5) is more for performance-oriented readers who want a thrill... so they really push the cars. They have more professionally trained drivers on staff as well.
