S2000 Stereo Questions
I have a 2001 S2000--- and I'm looking for some help on Stereos! I went to a local audio shop and of course was told that in order to get decent sound out of my car.. it'd be about $1500 for new front, rear speakers, and amp and a 6 disc cd changer. I'm not sure I need to spend that much money to make the sound better... . so here are my questions!
1) I'm aware that you can put rear speakers in the S2000.. has anyone done this and does it help???
2) The "honda Cd changer" ... where do they mount this? any thoughts on this... i.e. is an aftermarket changer better?
3) "Ricks" stereo speakers. Who has done this? How much improvement do these make?

If you want *decent* sound you will have to buy a new head unit, amp, and speakers. Without adapters for certain aftermarket receivers (not all, and only a few), you will lose your cd changer and dash controls. If you want to keep the stock head unit you can upgrade the front speakers with cheap speakers (~$100) that have a VERY low power rating and a high sensitivty rating. That is the only mod that I would even consider unless you wanted to go all out.
I replaced the cheesy front speakers with a pair of Infinity 652i's
!
They cost $99.95 at Cartoys plus installation...they sound SO much better than the stock speakers and are simple swap out, no cutting of the basket required. A relatively inexpensive fix without getting a new head, which, of course adds to the cost substantially. I may consider adding the rear Kenwoods available at Lucid in the future but for now the Infinities are working out great.
