Default S2000 test drive!

Hello! I am one of the few female sports car entusiasts!!!!
I just drove an S2000 for the first time today! It was so wonderful and i was excited after the first turn. I scared the salesguy half to death It was soo fun because i also drove the Mazda Speed Miata, which was ok but the S2000 is so much more solid feeling and i like the power better! I also drove a BMW 3 and didnt like it either. Sooo I think i am going to go for the S2000 but i do this its a big overpriced!! I def. will be taking it to the track! Does anyone take their S2000 to VIR??

Damn, they always compare the S to cars costing thousands more and go on and on about how much of a bargain it is.

Well, compared to a Mazda Speed Miata, RX8, STI, EVO, Mustang GT, GTO-400HP, all similarly priced and better value for money. Also right now leasing BMWs is cheaper than leasing an S2000. The Corvette and Elise are on 7k more

But hey!!! I LOVE the S2k and just becuse i think its is expensive doesnt mean i won't get one..Im just whining cause it means ill have to save up a little longer

First add 8K to any car that isn't a convertable, because that's about the typical rate to make it a convertable. That takes care of the rx8,STI,EVO, Mustange GT, (until the conv comes out this summer). Then to think the elise is 7 k more It's more like 50k or 50-31k=17k more the C6 is 55K or 22k more. You must be leasing a 328BMW because the closest thing to an S for performance that is even close in price would be a Z4 or 330ci which would run you a boat load more in price. I think you must be getting lied to on the price. Look to pay no more than 31k. Hardtopguy sells the for 30,995. Oh yeah I wouldn't compare the miata to our car. Unless your talking autox there is no comparison.

Also note road and track ranked our car as the number 5 best sports car AHEAD OF THE VIPER! The C6 was #1 the Lotus was #4. You'd never be able to handle the lotus as an daily driver. #2 and 3 went to porshe. the 350z came in 9th I think. So basically as a sports car goes we pretty much kick ass per$ out of everything out there which is why were #5 no other reason than value for the money.

Yes - one of the reasons I chose the S2000 was because it has perhaps the best chassis in the business. The performance is definitely a big notch above the Mazdaspeed Miata, which is why it's more expensive. You may get more power with the Mustang or the GTO, but they don't have the S2000's nice, tight chassis - nor the exact handling that is another of the S2000's strong points.

BMW 330s hold their value very well, so I'm not surprised they are less expensive to lease. If the Z4 3.0 is cheaper to lease than the S2000, though, Honda is doing something wrong, as that Z4 is significantly more expensive to buy. That Z4 is probably the most direct competitor of the S2000, though I feel the S2000 wins on ergonomics and a slight performance edge.

Negotiate hard. The S can be gotten for less than $29,500. I just did it a week ago. I looked at the Vette (Coupe) and got a real good deal ($4,000) off MSRP but still couldn't pull the trigger -- still a lot of issues with it like front pulley coming off some of the earlier VIN number cars.

My wife and I took the S out for a nice long cruise yesterday. BEAUTIFUL.

One question to you guys, do you get a lot of "leather" squeaking? What do you do about it? Thanks

my complaint about the s when buying was that i too felt it was a bit overpriced. now don't forget that i did buy it am i'm very happy with it.
i think 31k is a lot of money for a car that doesn't have too many amenities...i know it's not a luxury car but come on now my wife's civic has a better stereo and better power doorlocks. i would have been much happier with the price of the car if it had a better stereo, real powerlocks, climate control and a compass/outdoor temperature gauge.

Mine used to squeak constantly... I am 6'2" 230lbs so I need the seat to be back all the way, but luckily my legs are fairly short for my height (30" inseam). I did drive for a while with the squeaking but finally figured out that if I put the seat forward, then adjust the angle of the seatback and then move it back it didn't seem to squeak. If you put the seat all the way back then move the seat back it seemed to squeak. Maybe I was just lucky with the way it got in there, but since I am the only driver I can leave it like that. Maybe seat covers would work if they wrap around the back, but you will sit higher and farther forward.
