Peekaboo -

Of course no amount of technology will help the 30% of auto theft victims here in Jacksonville whose vehicles are stolen because they leave it running and go inside.

I thought it was only the North American cars
AFAIK all the S2000s outside the JDM market (leastways the EU, UK, Aus) have the transponder immobiliser too.

Oh yeah, I'd love one of these and will get you a deposit if you go ahead

This is a beautiful key but I don't see how you are going to add the
immobilizer without ruining the look.

4IGS200,

If you really can figure out a way to cleanly install the immobilizer chip and can keep the price down to $80, I'll sign up today. Just send me a PM with all the details.

The necessary part of the immobilizer is about the size of a grain of rice, so fitting it in shouldn't be a problem. Finding a way to insert it will be more difficult. And then there are the logistics of getting the correct chip, or reprogramming the ECU to recognize a different chip.

But if you get it all worked out, my deposit will be on the way.

I think you could design the key, which has a great industrial look anyway, with a small cover plate held in place by tiny set screws. The cover plate would hide a hole in the middle of the key where the immobilizer piece in the stock key would fit.
