Well all speedos are designed to overread at least slightly. As for those who've seen 160+ in the S2k their speedo is either overreading massively or they are on a long downhill stretch with a following wind. There is no way a stock S2000 will do more than just over 140 at best on a level road.
I have to disagree with you there dude.

I have a stock UK 99 S and have had it to 152 on a flat road in the early hours of the morning, redlined from 1st to 5th and it was still pulling albeit slowly in 6th. slowed down because i was running out of straight road.

One thing, speeds like 115 and 110, seem very comfortable after that...
Weird. I don't find the S2000 to be stable at all at such high speeds. On anything less than perfect pavement it just starts to feel squirrly. I think I'd feel more comfortable driving a ten year old 3-series with rust at those speeds than the S2000. Am I the only one who think the S's aerodynamics don't really support high speed driving?

MY00-03 reved to 9k rpm in 6th gear is approximately 171 mph. Of course there isn't enough hp to achieve this speed as well as the car being somewhat aerodynamically challenged.

As far as top speeds are concerned, read the above posts.

Right on, my previous E36 M3 (US-spec) was much more stable at 120mph+ speeds all the way to fuel cutoff at 7200rpm at 162mph (chipped).

Some of the bumps and corners on the Autobahn can be scary, especially if the conditions aren't perfect.

I have the OEM rear spoiler on my S2000, but I think the suspension setup has more to do with this high speed instability.

140 in 5th, top up, very noisy but still climbing quickly. My 2001 has Comptech intake and exhaust.

Welshman, you obviously haven't tried it yourself. I hit 140 with no problem at all on flat terrain, at sea level, no wind, in 80 degree Florida heat. Don't know how far above 140 I could have gone (I'll post next time I get the opportunity to try it), but I was certainly still climbing at a decent pace. 140 should be easily recahed in any stock S2K.

On my previous car ('01), which was completely stock, I hit 146 on I-90 with the top down and it was still climbing steadily (though I stopped because it was getting quite scary as the wind was beating on my head pretty bad and I had no radar detector), so I don't see why the stock car with the top up (or with a HT) can't hit 163-167 as people claimed here. But I don't think anything above that is possible with a stock car on a road that is perfectly horizontal.

Oh while I doing it, the side windows were down too and a piece of gravel/rock thing flew into the car and hit my friend's face who was sitting in the passenger seat. He said it hurt more than getting stung by a bee.

You gotta be kidding me! Show me some $$ and a level road, and I'll show you more than 140mph.
