S2000 Type R - a reality
Personally, I see that as pure speculation. What's with that image of that white S2K? It's nothing special seriously, visual enhancements mean nothing to prove anything. There is no whitepaper, no press release from Honda Japan. So there is really no point in discussing what's next. All I can see is a crappy image that isn't even sharp ... Red Honda badges, you can get that as an option in Japan for free. Hardtop, don't we have that as well. Lastly white wheels, anyone can get them sprayed for a nominal fee flat.
The biggest concept to remember is, if you increase displacement. You will obviously need to develop a new engine, and that is obviously not happening at R&D I would seriously believe. While increasing displacement also means horsepower increases. Currently sitting at 250ps, moves up to close to 280ps. That's quite near NSX territory, by far from Honda tradition.
That has never happened and I strongly doubt it will any day. Other issues include, is the current chassis able to handle the new displacement and power output? Whatabout handling issues as well, is the current torque sensitive LSD enough or should there be another? Damn ... It's not as simple as ABC. It's a completely new project. Doesn't the red engine valve cover mean anything? In Honda tradition, that happens to means R.

I firmly believe that they should stick to the 2.0 engine and just change the final drive. 8% more torque at the wheels puts the peaks higher then the boxster S in every gear....
Our Type R proposition would make a great car that is more torquey, does a 1/4 mile in about 13.0, 0-60 in about 4.5 and will outbrake and outhandle the current competition by far.
No need for larger displacement and a waste of R&D.

Not true.
If you're talking about the Integra, the RSX Type S is an Acura thing, and it's just a neutered version of the Integre Type R found in the rest of the world.
And then there's the Civic Type R.
If Honda starts making a more racing oriented S2000, I'm pretty sure it'll be a Type R.

There is no doubt in certain markets, the S2000 sales have been declining markedly, and given the competition it faces from its competitors - in Porsche (upping its std. Boxster to 2.7 and releasing the S in quick succession and soon to release a Boxster 3.4 with 290 hp), I see good reason to believe that Honda probably have an S2000 type R, or S2200, or S2500 in its wings for release in hopefully not too distant future.

A year or more ago I was totally convinced that Scoop! was the sh!t. But the site's predictions have consistently been just outright wrong. They're just reporting what they want to hear, usually completely fabricated.
The "poor sales" rumors in the case of the S2000 are interesting, and kinda funny. The justification seems to be that some dealers are willing to let the car go at MSRP, rather than $5K over. (Gee, can a 1.9% financing fire-sale be far away?
) Or else that more cars are appearing in showrooms. (Hmm, could that be because production is increasing to meet demand?)

What I mean is that the site either posts "old news", i.e. info/photos already out in reputable car mags, or else "no news", i.e. pure speculation that is generally wrong. Put another way, if the only source for a news item is this site, you can bet it's bogus.
