Default S2000 Type V

Hey check out this link:

http://world.honda.com/news/2000/4000707.html

I love this color. I love the steering wheel too.

I don't know about you guys but my leg always scrapes the steering wheel when I enter and exit the car. If the US version had a steering wheel like that then my leg would not scrape. I wish I could get a wheel like that. Anyone know where I could get one? Does the us version have VGS?

Hey Joe,

Nope, Honda does not offer the Type V in the US market. Never has and probably never will. However, I've never heard anyone rave about VGS so you're probably not missing out on much. I love the steering wheel though, but unfortunately it cannot be retrofitted to a standard s2000.

It can, but with some welding One of the guys in Florida has one on his. The Japanese always like to keep some stuff on their end to have the ultimate. Like Nav, VGS, all the freakin colors, and red interior with any color you want.

VGS or Variable Gear Steer changes the "speed" of the steering wheel. Our normal lock-to-lock turn of the wheel is something like 2.1 revolutions and as I recall the VGS was way, way less than that.

This is the US, we complain about a car that is uncontrollable with horrific oversteer, a car plagued by nasty bumpsteer and it rides on tires that offer zero grip in the rain and the cold. Do you really think Japan would offer us a car that has sharper/faster steering? They believe the general populace could not handle it, that's what I think.

For myself, I would love to try an S with VGS, I suspect it would be fantastic out on the track.

I've driven one on a rain soaked tight autocross course.
Didn't notice much difference, to be honest.
