S2000 Up Against the S4
I really don't get all these comparisons.
Why for Cliff's sake would you even consider buying an S2000 unless you wanted an open air two seater!
If that's the case, why would you even consider an S4 or similar?
It's apples and tennis balls if you ask me.

They are very different. that's why some folks have one of each. they're both fun cars in their own way and complement each other.
and Utah s2k, my s2k has had more problems than the s4. while audi's reputation for reliability is not the greatest, it has been improving slowly. sadly, it seems like honda has fallen a litle in that regard though still very good.

Great posts, fellas. I test drove a GS400 today. By no means as sporty as either the S4 or S2000... but in this car, you know where your money went and you just want to cruise with the music blasting. Nice!
And for those you can't seem to understand why we compare the S4 to the S2000 or any other car for that matter... I don't understand you cannot compare the S2000 to different types of cars. We're exchanging our hard-earned bucks for machinery. The money doesn't care what you get, but you do. Fun factor does not limit itself to two-seater roadsters all the time. The S4 can be fun. The Xterra can be fun. What's fun to you?
Looks like the S4 and the S2000 are hard to distinguish in a race. But the chipping and other upgrades makes the S4 all the more attractive even if it is a soon to be outdated, stealthy four door sedan.

As an owner of an S4 and considering adding an S2000 to the family...
I think the S2000 requires more skill to drive fast than an S4. With the S4 as long as you are in the 1850 to 5000 RPM range you have your max torque. So I think the average driver would be faster in the S4. But really good drivers (and I'm sure this board like all of the others is filled with them) would be faster in the S2000.
And in a pure speed contest the S4 has the edge. As long as the big turbo is spooled, that sucker pulls big time.
And as others have said, the S4 is sprung pretty soft for a sports sedan. Its probably one of the best riding cars running on 17" rims, but absolutely no match to the S2000 in handling. But coilovers solves that and a chip and turbo upgrade takes you to 340 hp.

so the S4 with auto tranny is no good? i'm considering that, new C320, Volvo S60, Lexus IS300, or 3.2CL Type S for my wife. It's gotta be with auto tranny, but fast enough for me to drive it sometime and have some fun (ahem, can we say mods that can't be seen?)
Any suggestions?

mingster, for your wife, i think the is300 is a little too... i don't know... it's not prestigious, you know what i'm saying? same goes for the TL. i mean, great values and sporty, but for a woman who wants to look good... it's gotta be a bmw or a mercedes. the audi s4 tip would be cool. i'm sur eit'd be the best performer out of the whatever you listed.
