I know this topic has been discussed many times but I I have actually driven both vehicles...

The comparison: My 2001 S2000 (no engine mods) vs. my neighbor's 2000 Boxster S.

I can tell you now from driving them both....both cars are nice and their performance is almost identical.

If price was not an issue I would probably get the Boxster S because:

- Prestige, prestige, prestige
- Nice handling at the limits
- Resale value
- Nice, smooth powerband
- Large interior and trunk
- Tricked top
- Its a freakin' Porsche!!!

The reason why I bought the S2000:

- Don't have an extra 20K laying around
- Girls dig it (girls dig the Boxster too ;-) )
- Limited production
- Reliable but I have some doubts
- Resale value is questionable
- Its a freakin' Honda!! ;-)

By the way, I heard that the new M3 isn't all that great? Rumors?

I think the only way for the new M3 to be not that great is because expectations were too high.

I totally agree with you and I think that BoxsterS and S2000 really shouldn't be compared. If prestige is important the Boxster certainly offers something more. I think girls will dig both cars but it depends a lot of what kind of girl you want too.

the only reason why porsche has the boxster s is b/c they were scared sh*tless when they saw the s2000 coming. the s2000 shouldn't be compared to the boxter s...only to the normal boxster..IMHO the s2000 will beat the standard fare boxter all day long....although i like the boxster s....maybe honda will come out with their version.....s2000 type-r....that would be nice....a supercharged s2000 from the factory.....
