S2000 vs G35 Coupe
when i went with my friend to the dealership, the dealer came out and asked me if i was looking for "something that will run rings around the s2000" i vomited, then told him i was there with my friend. i love car dealers. obviously in his spare time he was a comedian.
We have both cars in our garage. I have a white 2005 s2k and my brother has a 2004 white G35C 6mt. Not really the same price. G35C cost a little more but then again he opted for the 6 speed and premium package. I like both cars alot. I guess the thing i like most about the S2000 is that it just fits like a glove whereas the G35C drives and feels as big as it is. Admittedly, the G35 does feel stronger and thus more liveable on a daily basis. But nothing beats the feeling of top down driving in a tight convertible especially on a beautiful LA day like today
G coupe 6mt is 34,000 without any options. You would have to order it, because no one will carry a "stripped" 6MT. Ordering will take about 3 months.
The going rate for an s2k on the other hand is about 30k.
I was between these two and chose the s2k, obviously. I figured if I'm going to get a sports car, why half-ass it? The G35 seemed too comprimised towards luxury. In the end, it was too small to be a luxury car, too heavy and soft to be a sports car.
The s2000 is a much more intense, visceral drive. The gCoupe essentially drives like a BMW, i.e. competent but a bit dull. The 350z was more entertaining, but I couldn't shake the feeling that it was a great engine wrapped in a cheap car.

i dont know about that ......
I love the fact that S2000 came with everything i needed in a car , I didnt need to add leather seats , a "performance package" and stuff like that.
I loved driving the G35 coupe , but the car doesnt feel solid to me the way s2k does , I think infinity skimped out in the materials , it feels like you are sitting in a a plastic toy whereas in s2k i feel like i a getting into a real car.
oh and there is always the fun factor of a convertible a coupe can never match

i have both, and drive them both often, the s2k is a overal fun car to drive, the G35 has a "Pimp" factor lol but it drives alot smoother then the s2k... and has alot more little goodies, but i am more of a s2k guy and liek sporty instead of luxery
Ever consider the upcoming EVO 8 (or upcoming EVO 9) or the STi? These cars are stupid-fast and the traction control systems in the EVOs are idiot-proof. An EVO 8 with the factory wing deleted looks somewhat tasteful.
I think I'd miss the glove-like feel the S if i sold it, but there are definitely cars out there that are faster and perform just as well if not better in track conditions for the same cost.
