S2000 vs MX-5 - Weight

MX-5 is a great car, but I agree w/ Hicabi, Honda doesn't need to apologize for the weight of the s2k.

Every rolled s2k I've seen looks the same - the windshield frame didn't collapse and the cockpit remained relatively intact. Driver walks away.

Now check out every rolled Miata in this thread:

That first pic...damn.

Honda could have made a weaker, lighter car. Thank God they didn't. IMO Honda did a better job designing their convertible despite having little experience. Considering the s2k is both faster and safer, I'd say my life is worth an extra 300-400 lbs.

The S2000 rolled over 3 times - ala NASCAR style. There wouldn't be much left of a Miata after 3 turns, the extra 400 lbs means alot when you see it through a different perspective.

dude that miata rollover pic is nasty, they just had to show the blood? Man im glad i have an s2000 who cares about 300 lbs, id rather live and weigh more than smash my face on the pavement.

power to weight ratio?

The S2000....1HP for every 11.25 lbs.

The MX-5......1HP for every 15 lbs.
