Default s2000 vs supra

i am getting a car soon and i have narrowed it down to 2 cars
i am either getting a s2k or a 94 twin turbo supra.

i just wanted to know what u ppl thought about it. what do u think is a better deal? what is good about the s2k that rules it over the supra or vice versa?

i know some opinions may be biased because this IS an s2k forum but try to stay neutral.

also plz tell me what u think is better for modifying (i am not talking stupid logos and flaghy designs like in the fast and the furious). i am talking engine and body colored kits and suspension/wheel aftermarket upgrades. no designs or whatever.

thx

i am on my 3rd TT supra i had 2 before i got my S2k and 6 months sodl the S2k ( lost 7k) and got my third supra

to me the supra is the ultimate car

you got raw power, handleing, killer looks, very few on the road, and will hold its value wayyyyyy better then the S

if you are into modding cars then the supra is for you

if you have any questions on either car let me know

Supra = Fast and CAN go very, very, very, very fast with a few mods.

S2000 = Fast enough for the majority of the people, can't really tune it as the S2000 comes almost perfectly tuned from the factory, superb handling, and of course, the 8900 RPM redline second to none.

if you want to do some reasearch on mods for the supra you can check out

suprastore.com they have the BPU Kit ( Basic Performance Upgrade) which is the first step in modding a TT supra on the site it is rated at 460 CRANK HP all though as you will see some dyno sheets on the site some supras take really really well to the mods and make 420 RWHP ( at the wheels ) the kit is only $1,500.00 thats whith cost friendly mods. Like cheaper exhaust, cheaper boost controler, ect..... The exhaust on my car ( HKS TITANIUM) now alone not including downpipe is $1,200.00 so theres a big selection on parts for this car.

you can pick and choose your own mods to make it BPU, BPU+, BPU++, ect...... all the way up to APU ( Advanced Performance Upgrades) those are 550-900 hp single turbo packages.

the internals are VERY VERY strong (forged) and can handle up to 800 rwhp with 0 problems except for just upgrading the clutch.

check out mvpmotorsports.com also

any other questions i will be more than happy to answer

The Supra was my favourite car for years. I've drove both an Automatic Supra Twin Turbo, and a 6 Speed Supra Twin Turbo. They're a great car, however, it just wasn't for me.

I love the S2000. Most amazing car I've ever driven.

Seeing I've had both, I think I can tell you the cons and pros of getting either car.

Supra Pros

Incredible car, great handling, superstrong internals- I put 400RWHP without a breaking sweat costing me about $1K( HKS superdragger used $700, Profec B $250, Greddy BCC $150, and greddy CAI $200) and 590RWHP was achived w/o opening the head, all around GT car, and you are the king of the block, I never lost to anything but another supra. Just a beast, nothing like burning out through second gear and giving a good chirp going to 3rd.

Supra Cons

Price, my friend just sold his 97 and got $35K for a car he bought in 97 for $36K with 1K miles, every used supra has been modded by this time, to find a old guy who hasn't touched it is rare. I know the supra has about as bulletproof as you can get, but there can be problems. Everyone and their grandma thinks it's a celica, gets little respect by most people.

s2000 Pros

Convertible, great styling gets lots of gawkers and I've had more complements in my s2000 than I ever did in the supra, fun 9K redline, good build quality, stiffer frame than the supra(targa top), and you can have the security of buying a new car or a slightly used car still under warranty

s2000 Cons

As with most naturally asperated cars there isn't much you can do for power unless you spend big money. Weak clutch makes it close to impossible to do any burnouts, not much torque but more than you might think, and you sort of hide every time you line up with a vette or anthing with more than 300HP..not use to that but it happens time to time.

I hope this helps, either way you will come out a winner, just remember if you check out a supra do a compression test, drive the car and make sure there is no smoke when you run up the boost, if it has been modded make sure it's only been at BPU status and never APU, check if it has been loved, see the quality of the mods(people who just throw in some junk BPU equipment usually beat the living crap out of their cars), ask what kind of oil and how often he changed it(mobil one synthetic every 2500-3000mi is recommended in a turbo supra) and be patient and be willing to drive long distances to look at a car that just hit the market because it will be sold in a hurry.

if you're into modifying i would definitely say go with the supra. i have a couple of friends with supras and their cars are beasts compared to mine. modifying an s2000 will cost you a lot and you won't get the returns that you do with a supra. the s2000 does look better IMO. once again, like others have said...both cars are great so you really can't lose. it's basically what you yourself are looking for. hope this helps...

owning 3 supras and 1 s2k i can tell you that i never had someone think the supra was a celica

i always got respect everywhere i do not know what goes on in your area ( bpukiller) but i never had someone think it was a celica or not get respect

now when i owned my S2k the one thing that started to bother me was that everyone who knew me ALWAYS said why the hell whould you go from a supra to that??

and the question and statements the i hated teh most was is that a miata or " i thought mazda made those"

talk about respect thats one reason i sold the S cause everyone i talked to people i know, famliy and starngers always said why would you pay 34k for a 4 banger honda and you know what i never had a good answer.

My grandfather who is 75 years old and does not like the supra because its fast said to me the first day i got the S that it looked like a rollerskate.

Yes the supra is expensive for a used car i just paid 30k for a 94 with 33k miles but they are selling for these high prices fro a reason and i doubt the S will hold its value anything like a surpa

i looked at it this way i can pay 30-32k for a low milage supra (30k miles) taht offers a lot more than the honda or pay 34k for a 4 cylinder Honda

Try and drive both before you make your decision. TTSUPRA has made it well known on this board he didn't like his S2000. That's fine, but I know people who have gone from a Turbo Supra to the S2000 and like it better. Different people look for different things in cars and we can't tell you what you would enjoy.
