hmmm

Maybe good... maybe bad

personally I LIKE the edge my car has on it.. which is why I didn't get another bimmer or audi...

sounds like honds is going after the 350z droptop (even though it was already trounced)

Once honda walked to the beat of it's own drum... looks like they're seeing green.

I'm sure it will be a hell of a car...

but after all... this is one of the few japanese cars with SOUL!

Photos and driving impressions could be available as soon as next month. Car & Driver usually preview new models in their September issue with full road tests in October. I can't wait!

I think even if the 04 has a 9k redline they will tone it down to 8k.
So hopefully the limiter will kick in and stop some people who misshifted from
cmplaining about damage.

I have my '03 and I am happy the changes for the '04 are for the worst, because I would have kicked myself.

A touch more torque down low would be great, after that it is all gravy. However, they should have kept the 9000rpm, you can't say my car goes to 9000 anymore
To keep the 9000 RPM redline they would have had to reduce the mass of the pistons and the connecting rods and make them strong enough to maintain the forces. If you make them stronger by adding more material, you just create more of a problem. So they would have had to go to exotic materials to accomplish this and the costs would have really gone up. Rather then a ~$32,000 car it would be more like a ~$40,000 car. Honda is great at engineering and implementing, but they cannot rewrite the laws of metallurgy and physics.

I agree that Honda will try to "up the ante", whether they hit the mark or not remains to be seen. I'm sure many were skeptical about the original 00 before it came out, I say hold skepticism back until we see what 04 is all about. Sounds like to me they are at least trying address a few issues that may make the car better.
