S2000 watered down for 2004?
Well after Honda released the S600 with its 9500rpm redline, the S800 that followed upped the power and torque but dropped the redline down to 8500rpm.
The S800M also had to do without the original chain-drive independent rear suspension and instead went with a more economical live rear end.
Unfortunately, marketing and economy does play a role in selling cars. Let's wait and see how the 2004 model looks and drives before making too many harsh comments though.

The big question is: Will the 2.2 L engine be the same with the 2.0 L, but just of bigger cylinder capacity? Or will it be a new more compromised engine, which will achieve its power through the increase in capacity and without the technology to withstand the high RPM's of the 2.0 L?
If the second is the case, then Honda effectively throws an engine with dozens of international awards to the bin, just to achieve a bit more torque.
The S2000 was recognised world-wide for its engine. Yes, it has the X-bone frame chassis and the in-wheel suspension, but the masterpiece was the engine. In fact the 2.0L engine of the S2000 is what makes the car of historic importance, and a classic. That engine was a technological achievement.

I received a Report about this thread, but after looking it through, excepting a few "off" comments, I see no reason to Dumpsterize it.
I'm just going to ask everybody to please keep it clean, that's all. "Speculation threads" like this one tend to get heated.
Thanks guys!!
