Jason is right.

I wrote a dissertation on this topic at VTEC.net a while back (and I'm not going to write it again), but suffice it to say that the torque required to accelerate the wheel tire combo is dependent on the MoI (moment of inertia) and the acceleration rate of the car. Although FCguy does make a good point.

SCC did an interesting test a few months back where they dyno tested heavy and light wheel combos on the same car in different gears. The heavier combos showed less hp (which is calculated back from wheel torque and gearing) across the board, but the difference was larger in the lower gears.

Babyjoy, the plastic and puddy must be a water seal. Window switch velcroed on at the bottom.

jzr, your're right, sometimes two sessions and pump. It's a late '01: it just handles differently for some reason.

While I have the utmost respect for your efforts to save the extra weight, can't say that I could get away with doing that to the future car with my fiancee. Her reply word for word would be..."I can't believe this... you spend $50,000 (C$) on a car and you rip the goddamn door trim off?"

Gosh what's with people and weight savings?! Haha.. just IMO. I don't see the joy of gutting an interior unless you are only going to race it or to see who can save the most weight in their S2000. I dunno whatever..

For anyone near Burbank, CA. There is a recycling center I remember going to a couple of years ago where you could drive your car onto a scale and weigh it for free. It's near San Fernando road but some of you guys might want to check out that option. Not sure who else has a ground scale that large.

Call ahead and see if they have that scale available.

When I had the front bumper off, I considered taking out the steel front crossbeam, but decided against it. I think the beam might be contributing to chassis stiffness, and it has the receptor for the tow hook.

As for the door trim, I think I would miss the arm rest too much without the trim.

Is the article still available at vtec.net? If so, can you supply a link?
