Well, I'll mirror the response I put up on http://www.i-club.com
(that was you, right? ).

They're two very different cars. Though the horsepower rating is close (torque in the WRX will be sweet, but the revs in the S2k are too), I say the S2000 would be the more fun of the two. However, that's my interpretation of "fun."
Then again, I already own an Impreza, so I have my year-round car. What I'd love to have is an S2000, just to use when it's nice out, to scream around in.

It seriously depends on what you need. If you want a car to do it all, get the WRX, and go for the wagon. If the 2.5RS had come in a wagon form, I'd have bought it in a SECOND.

The S2K is a driver's car. Personal car. My car. Mine and only mine.
The WRX is a family car, your car, your wife's, your childrens'. Your do-everything car. But designed to have fun while doing it.
Depending on your situation (single, married, children, an extra car) you can choose. You'll have fun with both, but more with the S2k of course (if it's dry).
In my case, I'm married without children, so I went for the S2K as MY personal car. My wife has a Civic coupe, and wants to upgrade to a 4-door car. So guess what my recommendation was. Yeap, I'll also be driving a WRX on my "family" weekends.

I drive both an S2000 and a WRX STi6 TypeR.

I did get to go in the new STi which felt very good handling wise the suspension was VERY similar to the STi6 and I could feel the increased stiffness.

Both are great cars and very different as you have said. Power to the wheels to similar so the speed is not far off. Acceleration is much better in the sti6 mostly because a huge wedge of power/torque is available throughout the rev range. Highway driving in the STi is highly amusing - nothing troubles you at all. Not even a Ferrari 355 ;D

But around the twisties where you need to squirt from corner to corner the S2000 comes into its own. A good driver behind the wheel of the S2000 can corner extremely quickly leaving the STi drifting all 4 wheels behind. The S2000 can fall short at times but that's mostly on open roads where the revs can take an age to build. But overall I would prefer to drive a slower more taught car than the viciously fast rally car. Drive the Sti near its limits are you are putting everyone in danger the limits are so high and the angle of attact needs to be extreme

Given the choice which one would I keep? Its a tough call and I might need to decide soon!

Cheers Mark

Oh and I would stay clear of the Evo7, it might be extremely fast but its even more ugly than the new wrx. I went to see it the other day; larger body shell does not to it any favours! Nice seats but thats all I liked about it.

Sti, where are you posting from? Have you driven the new WRX STi?

Also, from the pictures I've seen of the EVO 7, I quite like the shape. Also, the WRX looks much better with the projector headlamps.

Thanks guys for the reply. I think not only do we need 0-60MPH/ 0-100KMH times, we need also the how many girls dig your car times. In the WRX, I think not too many... ha ha ha. Thanks to Honda and Subaru, imports from the next few years will be quite interesting to see...

No wonder your Gas has to be so much cheaper!!!!!!!

RE: WRX and 227 BHp, don't feel short changed ,UK spec WRX has only 216 BHp.
STi meant to have 276 offically, but closer to 350 in real life!

Paul

I'm surprised you're not looking at a Skyline Gt-R. You can get a good R33 or a used R34 for around the same as a S2K.

Because its 4WD is not permanent it doesn't suffer from the same snap understeer-to-oversteer the Scooby and the Evo suffer from. I'd recommend it, in fact i'm thinking of the change myself....
