Paul, you're talking about the STi here - right?

Also, what did you want to do with the V1?

Cheers!

This is quite funny because when I read the Supra forum,
it seems most Supra drivers think S2000 is a way overpriced car and don't really like it.
It all depends on what's most important too you...many Supra owners seem to focus on #'s (they LOVE dynos) and on drag racing. The car serves as a penis extender for many of these types, and they can be proud of their cars' almost untouchable top end. I love my former Supra, but it was overkill on the street, and I felt lucky not to wreck it (the back end got loose REAL easy under full boost) or get any tix in it. I was also always worried about something happening to it since it was almost irreplaceable. Hard driving was somewhat mixed between unmatched exhilaration and nervousness about going way too fast on the street to even have it breathing hard (though some who were on my Sunday drive still think I drive the S2K hard!). No complaints about its power or handling, though - it was a true affordable supercar (post-mods, anyway).

The S2000 is easy to knock for some b/c it doesn't generate as big performance #'s...but I enjoy driving for how it feels, not for what stats I'm generating. This is where the S2000 wins...the revviness, solidity of the body, and accuracy/tossability of its handling (not to mention the convertible top) combine for an unbeatable time on 4 wheels.

Drag racing/high speed types are right not to fall for for the S2K, but I can't think of anything I'd rather drive through twisty Hill Country roads.

Siper,

The Typer is a 2 door version STi with a controllable diff, low ratio gears, no abs and is said to be faster than a 22B. Handling differs from the normal STi a lot because it uses a very aggressive mechanical diff which puts more power to the rear allowing you to have some real fun in the car.

Before asking which to buy, or which is better, you should establish what you're interested in.

Which car is faster in the 1/4 means absolutely zip to me. I guess it's good for the occasional 13 secs at the drag strip, or for bragging rights at a party, but otherwise pretty pointless.

I was after a sporty convertible, and if it hadn't been for the S I would have either gone for a Miata, or stretched to a second hand BMW 328 convertible. I was so lucky that the S came out about the same time as my BMW 318is lease matured.

I never considered a WRX. It's a sedan for pete's sake, so it didn't rank highly on my schedule of desires. I am very impressed with it's performance and practicality (many, nay, most of my friends have WRX's). I am so disappointed with it's looks (which IMHO only got worse with the new model).

And I've stoplight raced a buddy of mine who's a fair driver and we were pretty evenly matched to 130Kmph (I was about 2m ahead).

So, if performance is (fairly) equal it's a matter of whats more important to you? Aethetics and topless driving, or practicality, cost, and passenger space.

Shouldn't be hard decision.

Of course, if being a member of the world'd greatest enthusiast community is important it's the S all the way

What's a WRX? Haven't seen it compared to anything of note.....Corvette, BMW, Boxster, Audit TT. For that matter non of the mags choose to compare the WRX to the S2000.....enough said?

I've seen the WRX STI compared here to Porsche 911 Carerra4 ... with money thrown into the equation, the WRX won.

It's just a run of the mill rocket car in its STi guise. Don't bother racing one in a S2K. If you manage to beat it, the guy isn't trying or he can't drive.

Still as AUS2000 says, who cares if its quicker over 1/4?
