S2000's and High Mileage
Yeah I found one today with 44k on it and they only want 12k... I'm in love with it (it's an ap1 if I remember right) but the guy isn't coming until next thursday to buy my car. Damnit..
As far as my car goes I have over $15k in reciepts for it. I've had more into it but took the parts off and sold them so I'm not including them. The guy that wants it is head over heels in love with it and he's driving 7 hours to come and pick it up. I'm just glad it's going to a good home it seems.

I'd stay under 100K, personally. The car will still run fine at that point and someone with little experience of driving an S with low mileage would think the car is perfect but the ones I've driven with mileage up there have felt significantly different. You buy this car to have fun in, not to just make it from point A to point B. I'm currently looking for an AP1, and I'm aiming for under 75K.
I think it all depends on how the car has been driven. The F20/F22 engine is basically built exactly like a K series, and my wife's '02 CRV w/ a K24 has well over 300k miles, and the only thing I've ever done to the car was change the fluids. It's still running strong. My S on the other hand, was handed down to my 16 year old brother for a few years. The S's engine died at 70k miles.
The S2000 is not any different than any other Honda when it comes to build quality. They will last as long a Civic, so long as you adhere to the maintenance intervals. My '02 has almost 140K and aside from the oil consumption, it runs fine. I also believe it has the original clutch.
I read a lot of posts on here about guys running these cars to 9k daily. Those are the cars you stay away from.

I believe the motors are going to run you to about 220-260k before you have problems. So I would like to buy one with up to 1/4 of the life used.
Now I'm at 105K, the motor still runs very strong, and tracks well. There are a few rattles that weren't there before but otherwise is good.
Nothing wrong with buying a 150K car, but know what you're getting yourself into. Ap1 and valves. Might have been modified. Etc etc.

if you keep the oil always on proper level you will not have problems. when you buy a high milleage s2000 check for compression and leak down test. then check the retainers and vlave guides. if that things are ok , you will not have problems. the engine doesn't blow for unknow reason. theres allways some hardware failure. if you keep an eye on the engine and repair it when it needs, you will have an engine for the entire life. some people let it go and don't do nothing and then engine blow.
Mileage doesn't mean much for me. As long as it's not too crazy high.. I mean for me, I buy a car that I love then get tired of it after about a year and get something else even if it's the same model. I think the most miles I've put in any of my cars would be about 20k
