s2000's never seem to make the cut...
Been tinkering around with cars for years and reading car magazines has been a part of my interest in pursuing anything automotive... Been flipping through the pages of Car and Driver for many, many years, and check in on Road and Track and more recently Automobile magazine... Quite often these magazines will run articles like Ten Cars You Have to Own, Affordable Sports Car Fun, or Our Picks for the Best Fun Drive... you know the drill, articles like that...
With that said I have always been curious as to why the S2000 never seems to make the cut. Those of us who drive these things know what they are about and that they offer pretty much the best true sports car bang for the buck... and to be sure, I could give a rat's arse whether the editors of these publications choose to write about the S2k or not... I have one, I like it, that's pretty much all I need to know....
It is kind of funny though... The Miata is always on the list, usually a gaggle of BMW's, more than likely you will see a Corvette or RX7 but never the S2000. Thinking that, in the world of automotive scribes, the S2000 has run its course, will soon be out of production, and in their world, is a dead player and therefore not worthy of mention in their subjective "cars you gotta own" stories.
Any other opininions or thoughts as to why Honda's bullet proof and fun two seater doesn't pop up in these types of stories. It's probably Bush's fault... Gore, maybe.

It was on just about every list when it first came out and during the first (and only) refresh. It's too old and at the end of it's life cycle at this point.
Every car enthusiast knows whats up with the S2000. Some magazine doesn't need to print it every year.

Otherwise, I don't think anyone would say good bye to it.

I think its the nature of the beast and what writers and readers want to see. The 1970-1977 Mercury Capri falls into the same category. There are still about 8000 around the world, yet we haven't nor will we see any publications on theses .. Yet there is a dedicated bunch that meet a couple of times a year (Carlisle's Ford showing, Knotts Berry Farm, Hebron, Oh (SWARM) and Capris in CT) and always have a good time ....
Those that don't have an S2000, don't know what they are missing ....

I wish I had the link, but a few weeks ago it was on a recent list of top cars to own by some mag. I think it was posted on the Car Talk Forum. I remember it described as one of the favorites, just below the Cayman S.
