I could not find a search feature, it might be because I am never on this site........I was talking to my friend and telling him of a race that I had had with an S2k and that I was able to keep up, he then proceeded to ask why I did not win?!?! I told him that 240hp and 2800lbs is faster than 220hp and 3050lbs........he said that baisically he has never seen on at the track(1/4 mile) or anywhere else run very fast. I know that the S2k isn't a drag car, I know that it is largely due to driver error when it produces less than satisfactory times.....but I just wanted to prove to him the times that this car can lay down. So baisically, what are the average times for a stock S2k.........I told him anywhere from 14.3-13.8 at 99mph-101mph, am I close? He doesn't believe me, so any help would be appreciated.

 

I take it you have a Jetta or a Golf ey?

My GTi can run with Stock S2000s.
All i have is 1.1 chip and 100 octane gas.

The S2000 is slower off the line than the GTi, but the S2000 has a less drag than a GTi/Golf. The tranny is 6speed, meaning the gear ratio is different. 9000RPMs means also you can shift even later without leaving the powerband, since the S2000 power band is in the high 8K RPM level.

Honestly if you want to beat a Stock S2000.

Spending only around $2000 you can hang with the S2000s

I highly would recommend the ATP T3/T4 turbo kit. Drag times are in the low low 12 second mark!

 

I have already run a S2k, I am not trying to beat them..........I just want to see what kind of 1/4 mile times they can pull so I can prove to my buddy that they are fast. I actually have a Passat, you have probably seen my video in the street encounters section.....I will hopefully be going APR stg.3 within the next year or so, so I am not going to worry about doing any futher engine mods except for a DP.

 

yea, stock s2's are usually running from 13.8 to whatever, ive seen some run 15's. just depends on the driver. but put a good driver in an s, and youll get a high 13 second car

 

Question:

If you launch btw. 6500-7500, where does everyone shift? Right at redline? What's the difference btw. a good and bad shifter anyways?

i pulled a 14.1 w/ 1500 miles in my car. next next that i go, i'm sure i can bust out some high 13's.
