Default s2k for a beginnner driver?

well, it is easy to learn for beginner stick shift drivers?

My friend wants a 2 seater convertible. I told I had interest in a s2k and its a great car from what I hear.

I really prefer not to let him practice on my bmw 540/6 before he buys a manny

I say no.

My wife learned on a Civic when I taught her and I learned in an old B-series Mazda pick-up. Frankly, I find the s2k gearbox too precise for a beginner. You want a little play (dare I say slushiness?) in the stick and the clutch with a beginner since it's a bit more forgiving if their timing isn't right...which it won't be. JMHO.

I say no. The shifter is a tad unforgiving for a newb.

Not recommended.

Use the 540. But clutches on those aren't cheap either.

What do you guys mean by unforgiving? Because the friction point is so high up on the clutch pedal release that it's easy to stall out getting it into 1st? Or that because of the high revs, it's harder to rev match between shifts?

Well since everyone has said no...

The S2000 is my first manual. It didn't take me long to learn how to drive it. Prior to driving the S2000, I had maybe a total of one hour learning how to drive on a Civic. On the S2000, bf and I took it to an empty parking lot a couple of times and learned shifting there. I learned how to 'balance' the clutch and the gas on my inclined driveway in a couple of nights. I was very concerned about ruining my car because I was learning on it, so I learned quick.
