S2K+ Comptech or Z4 si?
although the supercharged s2k is comparable in price to the z4, in the end if you're anything like me, you would inevitably want to mod whichever car you got and end up spending more for the z4 (btw that AC Schnitzer front bumper is sweeeet!)
Why all this talk about 0-60 and quarter mile times
? If you're trulely basing your next vehicle purchase on such a worthless number, you're looking at the wrong cars.
So you go out and buy the Bimmer. Feel confident in your knowledge that if you ever pull up next to an S2000 at a light, you may (or may not) be able to beat it by 6 inches to the next stop light. Whooop de doo.
The S2000 is probably one of the most fun cars on the planet to drive- something the Z4 will never be accused of. Factor in that it's arguably the most reliable sports car in the world, has timeless styling, an amazing and unique engine (which has won engine of the year numerous times), is much rarer than the Z4, has a more devoted following, has much more personality, greater aftermarket support and costs less... and you've got your winner.
Plus, if you pull up next to a Z4 at a stop light, you may (or may not) be able to beat it to the next one.

camera obscura hit it right on!
If you want a 1/4 mile monster....get a big v8 that doesn't require any skill to be fast.
Not to be redundant, but those numbers are waaayyyy off! The S is much quicker than you think, like many have said you just need to drive it a little harder (or drive with skill is how I put it). Throw a comptech SC and you are head and shoulders above any z4. If you were to actually take either car to the track the S will perform better there too.
And last but not least.....look at the z4, honestly look at it...it is UGLY!! Something looks wrong with it. The lines are nasty the front end is terrible, the whole car just looks lopsided.

As several others have mentioned, it's hard for me as well to get past the sheer fuglyness of the Z4 - all versions.
I can't imagine picking a car on the basis of which one mags say get to 60 mph or thru the quarter faster. If you must look at magazine stats, look at skidpad and slalom results.
Ultimately, you MUST drive, then decide.
I am in complete agreement with these last two posts by camera and Kayt. Besides, if you plan on having SoS install their $4000 sc package, you will be light years ahead of the bmw in straight line performance.
But only you can determine the specific aspects inherent with each car that your are more likely to endure. For example, the S will require a more focused driving awareness when taking it to the higher levels of its capabilities, seems to have a louder interior and no doubt has less amenties that the Z4. I certaintly would expect the Z4 to have many more amenities and a smoother and quieter ride. They are both fine cars and cops love to pull them over for speeding just as much as they do our S cars.
IMHO, the S is light years ahead of the Beemer in terms of overall killer style while also being somewhat understated as well. The car fits my needs very well. It is fun, fast and can take licking and keep on ticking.
Besides, since no one leaves this place alive anyway, what significance does an emblem really represent anyway? Ok, I confess. In high school I bought a CJ5 Jeep and did put a Mercedes Star on the hood of my jeep. It was actually hilarious to everyone who saw it except of course to those drivers of the M cars.
To answer one of your inquiries, the comptech sc, without an aftercooler is quite fast, but the sc kicks in about 500 rpm under the VTEC. So you really experience double bumps. I believe you will also notice a noticeable difference over stock above 4K rpm too but it is more refined. At the lower levels, I really would not know it was there except the whine of the supercharger is always present.
I also use SoS and recommend them highly. The local S club members highly recommended them to me and you are in good hands.
Good luck

You have driven both and certainly the Z4 FEELS faster due to the extra torque (no one will argue that), but in reality, its not. It's not a question.. its not a magazine test. Numerous people have raced these head to head and the outcome is always the same: extremely close races. You can talk about extra power, torque, rpms all you want, but nothing is going to change real world results on the tarmac. An S2K can beat cars with well over 300hp from a V8 (think charger r/t).. numbers on paper are meaningless.
