Synthetic oil is more expensive than dino oil. Anyone using dino in an engine that revs this high is asking for trouble IMO.

Premium gas only.

Clutch fluid, transmission fluid, differential fluid, brake fluid, coolant replacement, etc. all add up.

I'll only use stock S02's on my car so that right there is yet another. Rear's wearing out in 12k miles or less.

Yes this car is not as expensive to maintain as a Ferrari but how many current and future owners have or will come from owning a Ferrari? Not very many. In comparison to maintaining my 91 Accord the S2000 is indeed quite expensive.
you're seriously complaining about this normal routine maintainence stuff? comon..

the only thing that i agree with are the S02s. but that can be easily remedied with a good set of Falkens or Nittos.

synthetic oil? premium gas!? normal maintainence that should be done on every car!??? oh no! someone help me, im going broke!

if this is the kind of stuff that makes or breaks your bank account, maybe you should've kept that '91 Accord.

I still have the 91 Accord dumbass but thanks for assuming.

Do you hear my complaining? NO. I simply voiced my opinion in a thread where the thread starter desired to know what the S2000 essentials are. Money is one of them. Sorry if I didn't understand that it grows on trees for you; the rest of us have to earn it somehow. If you don't agree with my opinion that is fine but don't try and pretend like I'm crying about these issues. I'm simply giving the thread starter a heads up as to what he/she may be getting themselves in to.

No the issue with the S02's cannot be remedied easily because Falkens and Nittos perform nowhere near it.

The only things essential to an S2000, IMO, are money and more money.

Start setting aside some for insurance now because this car is quite expensive to insure and maintain.
The S2000 requires a bit more maintenance then other cars in that the rear diff and trans fluid should be changed more frequently. However, compared to other roadsters and sport cars, it still is the best bang for the buck. And if you fret over replacing S2000 tires, try that on a Vette or other vehicles similar to the S2000 whose tires wear out just as fast. The S2000 tires are considerably less expensive than other sport cars, many of which use "run flats".

As for insurance, that is all relative and dependant on several factors to make as a broad statement that the S insurance is high.

Oh yes, there is one essential that I didn't mention before that was purchased when my car was ordered, RaggTopp products.

One of the best mods (and most essential IMO) for this car.

I don't think you can make a big deal out of fluid changes. Any performance car you buy is going to require the same time of maintenance.

Tires? S-02/RE-050's are not that bad. Again, any performance car you're going to buy, will require tires like these, and they're going to wear out quickly.

You get 40,000 miles out of a set of tires on a Honda Accord because it doesn't get driven like the S2000, and they're A+S tires with a 400 tread rating, instead of 120.
