Default S2K to go along w/ Cayman S?

I've always loved since the s2K came out (I was a senior in college then and remember ogling it when they were going at 10k over MSRP) and thought I would end up getting one. Fast forward until now and I've had several cars, but the s2k has still not happened. I currently have a 4Runner and a Cayman S (the 4runner for 5 years and the CS for 2 years now). They're both paid off and I'm craving for something new.

At first I was thinking of selling the CS and getting a GT-3, but then I thought for much less $ I can keep the CS and add the s2k I've always loved. That will also provide me with a car that's much cheaper to track than either the CS or a GT-3 would be, plus I'd have a 'vert for those perfect spring/fall days.

What do you guys think? Would the s2k make a good addition to my garage? Or have I hyped it up for way too long? After all this time I've yet to even drive one lol.

I think the S2K will blow your mind. You already made all of the points I would have made on an S2K vs a GT3.

Cheaper to maintain and track

Keep the CS

Vert for those nice days. If you have never owned a vert before you don't know how under rated they are. Having a crappy day? Drop the top...instant smile!

I don't know anyone that thinks the S2K doesn't live up to the hype.

All that being said...a GT3 is a pretty badass ride.

S2000s are really fun cars to track. Consumables are fairly cheap and so are used parts. You might even be able to buy a gutted and caged track car or a theft recovery to do a full build. It's also fun that there are a fair number of "stock S2000" track guys so you can compare apples to apples and know if it's your driving that's holding you back.

DO IT! I was wanting one for years myself, and just took the plunge. I've got an 07 FJ Cruiser that meets all of my utility and off road needs and now I've got the S for fun in the sun and occasional track days. The best of both worlds!

S2k is really a great drivers car! The only thing you might be disappointed in is the power. In terms of power and straight acceleration it does not feel fast at all really when na but still over all I can't really imagine a better car for anywhere close to the money.

If you can afford to have a car w/ a 132k MSRP sit in your garage and depreciate, by all means, get the GT3. As much as I love my s2k, price was major factor in my decision to purchase.

If you've got the money for a GT3, go buy a convert 997. As much as I love my S, my brothers 997 puts my S to shame. As you might already know when you buy a new Porsche you get invited to the Porsche performance driving school. My brother tracks his car every month for peanuts and gets to drive with a pro driver.

Personally I think you have over-hyped the car. Some people enjoy the car they chose for many years, other people have to have a new car every few years (grass is greener syndrome)

GT3 was my dream car...until I realized that the GTR in stock form @ <$90k beats the GT3: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/N%C3%BCrburgring_lap_times
