s2k handling vs exotics
Handling also has alot to do with weight...take a miata for instance, it handles incredibly, yet has barely 130 hp. When compared to certain exotics, i'd say the s2000 can hold it's own.
I've seen a video on here of two 360's on a track being chased by an s2000...the S absolutely dominates in the corners because it can brake later.

Most of the exotics are preferential to bigger open roads. I've spent a lot of time in Porsche 911 Turbo and raced one in my S2000 along a windy tight road (Storrow Dr in Boston). The Porsche couldn't pull away from me. I got left in the dust on that same road by an Evo. Take that same Porsche and race me on the open highway, and I wouldn't even be able to get near him. A lot of exotics are bigger cars (Countach... Testarossa), and the S2000 can out handle them regardless. Remember, power to weight is critical, and these exotics weigh more and require much more power for the same responsiveness that we get in the S2000.
Handling is only one factor in what makes an exotic so exotic. Rare materials, more horsepower, avant garde design, big price tag to stroke one's ego, and more everything including routine repairs...
Most exotics sit lower in the front on than the S and people drive close to you to see the car which can be a hassle, and you'll have ulcers every time you park it in public.
The S2000 is a great handling car, and even someone who is use to driving Ferrari's and such wouldn't knock the handling on the S. The Subaru STi may put up the same or better numbers than the Modena, but it's hardly a Ferrari, so the super-car lies beyond the numbers.

One of the best posts on describing what makes an exotic I've seen on any board.
...really, he described so called 'racing' a 911 turbo and an Evo (in reality he was 'racing', if you want to call driving on the streets 'racing', the cars and driver) on a twisty road. How does he know the competency of the 911 driver. By the way, Porsches are very difficult to get the most of - yes even the modern ones everyone claims are so easy to drive. An Evo is DEAD simple. So nothing was proved there.
Also - what is the power to weight reference about - handling or accel? What does power to wieght have to do with handling?

It's all about the company you keep. I was at Waikiki, cuizing in my top down with my S2. I was with my really hot asian co-worker...nothing really happening between us, but noone knows that. A F360 convertible rolled beside us with these two old men.... they looked over and i smiled.
my co worker didn't even notice them... she was like WOW i like this car... its different going thru Waikiki in it. i was like

O yeah about the handling/performance, i was faster from one traffic light to the next. i never track it so i don't care. Its all stop light and traffic performance. and the S is much more nimble to drive thru traffic.
plus, i get better gas mileage!!!!
