S2K Insurance (part II)
I just quoted with Amica. I'll be paying about $800 / 6months, or $750 if I get Renters insurance with them.
I'm 24, male, single, 7 years of driving experience, perfect record.
Prior to learning about amica, I had been using Geico, which was $1050 / 6 months.

I'd love to pay $800 every 6 months. Insurance in AZ is F'ed UP. I pay $195 a month!! My record is clear too!!! Amica is good insurance too, I have USAA because my father if former military. Steer clear of Assgressive, they suck!
WORD OF WARNING WITH ESURRANCE
I signed up with eSurrance promising me 800 for 6 months. A day later, they increased their rate to 1100 for 6 months citing new driving history info that just got in. Luckily they had a 24 or 28 hour full refund policy so I canceled it. Using my state farm agents advice, i never canceled my state farm policy when i tried this. Lucky too, since I didn't have to reapply w/ state farm since this esurrance thing didn't work out. I currently pay 1100 for 6 months with state farm. Good coverage, good record as far as they know

The way to get cheaper insurance is to get old.
I pay State Farm about $525 for 6 months of insurance on my MY 2003 S2000. Full coverage and $500 deductable.
I pay $460 every 6 months for my 16-yr-old boy's '91 Prelude, minimum liability only, with a perfect record (for the whole 3 months he's been licensed.)
Personally I'd rather pay more and be younger ....

I thought I was doing pretty well on insurance. My 1st year with my '03 S2000 (and '98 Camry) was:
$870/yr for S2000, full coverage, $500 deductable.
$630/yr for the Camry, full coverage, $500 deductable.
This is in Los Angeles, CA.
Pretty good huh? Now I get my renewal. Note: I do not have any tickets since 1987, and never had any accidents, DWI or license suspensions. I'm over 35 and married with a kid. Absolutely nothing occurred since I got the S to incur the wrath of my insurance company.
Now for the 2004 premiums:
$1670/yr for S2000, full coverage, $500 deductable.
$1050/yr for the Camry, full coverage, $500 deductable.
Oh, and they added the restriction that I cannot drive either car more than 4,999 miles/year or I have to get higher quotes. The uninsured motorist premium nearly tripled, I wonder if that has anything to do with the little issue of illegal immigrants lining up for driver's licenses on the 1st of January.
Add the fact our health insurance went from $80/mo for the family to $210 next year, and I can say we are definitely getting screwed by insurance.
