s2k maintnance
how long does it take to do this valve adjustement and how difficult is it? i am not sure i would want to get in there at the chance of messing something up.
how often does this have to be performed and how much would it cost to pay honda or a mechanic to do this? thanks!!!

In my experience, the S2000 is any more expensive to maintain than any other Honda. If you're mechanically inclined, have a good set of tools, and a Helms manual, a lot of the regular maintanence can be done yourself.
the most expensive thing is the tires... in my other car(accord) I buy tires once every 30-40k miles... the s2k? once every 10k if I'm lucky they last that long.
All the rest of the stuff is petty... gas.. putting premium instead of plus... that kinda thing... it's all a pleasure though.

i guess i am lucky i dont have to pay for gas. it helps that my roomate works at a quik trip. the same can be said for beer and cigarettes. but i would like to know a little bit more about the valve adjustment.
Before getting my 04 S2000, I ran the numbers out for 100,000 miles including full recommended factory maintenance, replacement of wear components such as belts, hoses, tires, pads, rotors, etc, and replacement of occasional items such as muffler, tailpipe, top, etc. at dealership prices. I did this for (1) Boxster, (2) Z4, (3) 350Z, (4) S2000, and (5) Miata (for control purposes). The results were respectively: (1) $13,080, (2) $9,085, (3) $8,708, (4) $8,333, and (5) $7,375. As emphasized in other posts, all these costs can be reduced significantly by doing things yourself.
rsx......I take it you formerly(or still) own an rsx.... if you do then the valve adjusment issue you are worrying about will be no more or less than what you should worry about it on the rsx, or most other hondas. If you are to do it yourself, follow all the directions and you should be OK, its not a TOUGH task to do but has details that need to be tended to. When you go to buy the S, if the valvetrain is quiet, you probably wont need to adjust the valves for a while, even if you take it kind of hard on the car.
