From my experience these are the things that mainly go wrong through no fault of the driver:

Tight Valves (06+) - $0-1000
TCT - $250
Master and Slave Clutch Cylinders - $120
Alternator Rectifier - $50 used
Seized Alignment Hardware - $100 a corner

I mean thats all I could see needing replacement to about 150k miles, most normal cars cant get by with that kind of maintenance.
Just the hardware from Honda is over $100 a corner. In the cases I've seen (my car and 2 others) the compliance bushing had to be replaced as well. Not a fun or cheap job

This. I pretty much always downshift unless I know for sure that I'll come to a complete stop. I want adequate power to be there when I'm ready, not decide I need it and still have to shift. A lot of times I'm braking a bit too for the practice. It must work cause 10 years ago when I began the habit, I sucked at it. Now I suck less!

I downshift on the street all the time with no concern, as well as heel-toe on a regular basis. Practice is practice and if you can heel-toe at slow speeds, you can definitely do it at higher speeds.
