I'm curious. What exactly broke with the transmission?

Did you have any mods on the vehicle?

three plus years and a couple of months, 26,000 miles, no oil use, no problems, no replacements other than fuilds and filters and set of new tires, period. original battery which seems just fine. go figure? oh...yeah...it is awsome to own and drive.

I'm about to hit 60,000 miles and havent had a single problem with the drivetrain whatsoever. not even so much as a dead battery... although I replaced it anyway, when I put the subwoofer in. "just in case" factor... haha

mine is daily driven. and while I take very good care of it, I do open it up A LOT. I hit full throttle, VTEC a couple times every day.

my convertible top is just now starting to get holes in it at the most common wear points... but the rear plastic hasn't cracked yet.

other than that... no problems at all.

BAN THE TROLL! He makes up all of these senseless threads and sparks unwarranted drama... banning only seems appropriate. What is with the influx of newbies?

Jeez, looks like every car/make/model acts up time to time. On the 350Z forum a lot of ppl are posting about using oil (over 1qt per 1K miles). Seems someone here had valve guides, tranny, whatnot. My 95 TA had a tranny go out at 140K (previous owner replaced it) as well as an axle got taken out. I sold it at 170K and the only thing I did was fix the pop-up headlight gear and replace a heater core. Ran GREAT when I let her go, not smoking or anything.

My 01 WS6 has 77K miles on it, I bought it at 72K and replaced: IAC, wheel bearings, cable under seat that allows me to adjust seat-position (somehow it snapped...), and coated the T-top seals with dielectric silicon grease which stopped all the slight seepage in rain, doesnt drip a drop now. (my 95 TA was hardtop).

I also know of S2K's that blew their motors early on due to them siezing up.

When I worked for Ford, we had a guy overheat an explorer with less than TWENTY! miles on it. The radiator hose blew off and he lost all his coolant, no physical harm done.

I have heard of BMW engines that were cranked during the testing proceedure only to find that no main bearings were installed.

SHIT HAPPENS. Im sorry guys, but even Honda's break and sometimes GM's last, lol. My main point is this: ITS MECHANICAL. It is an imperfect machine made by imperfect machines made by imperfect beings. Pretty lame set of qualifications any way you slice it.

That being said, most modern automobiles will last to 2-300K miles IF CARED FOR and with minor maintenance.

Of course a car will act up when not cared for. I used to make the same justifications when I had my 4th gen Z28. And I babied that thing. Then I graduated from college, got a job as a manufacturing engineer, and learned about the differences between American auto manufacturing ethic and Japanese auto manufacturing ethic from my co-workers. Buy the Honda and you'll understand too. just kiddin Nice lookin T/A BTW....get rid of the 4x4 look tho!
And for no reason---->
