Default s2k speakers

i am looking to buy a set of speakers to my s2k that will fit the original baskets.
can someone please tell me what is the max mounting depth that i should look for or if anyone got any recommendation for speakers that sound good with the stock head unit???????????????

Like the others said, there should be a lot of information in the electronics section. Most aftermarket speakers will not fit in your original stock baskets, if you mean the black plastic housing. If they do fit, they're probably not worth getting anyway. If you want to keep the black baskets, you can cut out the back so that the larger/longer magnet of the aftermarket speakers will fit through. The stock speakers should be 5 1/4 ". 6 1/2" will sound better but you'll need to come up with your own mounting bracket - not difficult, just more added work. The stock head unit doesn't have much power. If you want to stay with it, you can purchase an amplifier that can handle high level inputs from stock head units. It all depends on your budget and how much you want to gain. The cleanest way to go is buy a new head unit, speakers, and amps. It's possible to stay under $600-700 if you do the install yourself.
