Default S2k Theft recover What is the after value

Hi everyone, i was going to buy a s2k from this guy off ebay. I offered him 17,300 he accepts that offer. Here's the link to the ad http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAP...em=110285466642

Later someone on this forums infromed me that this car was retrieved from a theft recovery twice from carfax. Props to Gfresh for finding out. Now i just want to know if buying theft recovered cars are still a good idea. He did not inform me about this when i asked him if there is anything i should be aware of the car and its past. He said no and he had carfax on him and he said it was clean. If i do decided to buy it from him, i would reoffer him a lower price and take it to a honda dealership to inspect if there is anything wrong with the frames or anything. Does anybody know how much those service cost for inspection?

Be aware that some sellers will use theft as the reason for a salvage title. Very few states give salvage titles due to theft so it could be just to hide the fact that the car has been totalled in an accident. If Carfax says the title is clean, maybe it really has a clean title.

Having the car inspected is a good idea. No idea on the cost, though.

It sounds like if you buy the car, but don'y pony up the extra $2500 for the sound system, he's gonna rip it out and leave you with no sound system.

That plus the Carfax = STAY AWAY. There are plenty of other S2000s out there.

My assumption to the car why it was theft was probably because it was hooked up before and it prob got stripped twice, then the seller decides to sell it and put it back in stock form. The sound system makes kinda sense.
