S2K suppose to be a roadster man!
The S2000 is what it is and has always been this way. If you are ashamed of it, then why the hell did you buy it?

Oh, and Johnny Tran is my hero. Go Johnny Go!
Ever driven a 1st gen Miata? It's more fun than most of those stupid-fast tunertard cars like the STi, EVO, and Cobalt SS. Reason being it's convertible, light-weight, has a good suspension setup, is RWD, and is easy/rewarding to drive quickly.
Our car is pretty similar. The one complaint I have is that where you can drive a miata balls to the wall a lot of places without being seriously reckless, you can't with an s2000 because the limits are higher and it's much faster.

Oh, and I meant to say I bought an S2000 because of initial d

Cobalt SS lap time - 8:22
S2000 lap time - 8:39
And you know what, I still don't care because it's just a number and doesn't matter.

When all of you are fussing about the S's lack of power, please keep in mind it is an NA car that you are comparing to turbo charged cars. For that reason alone you should all feel good about the car - it holds its own in NA when other have to turn to FI.
If beating all these "lesser" cars is so import, tack on a tobo of your won. The compare apples with apples and see where the SS is then. Imagine a 2L NA car from Honda will only be beaten by a 2L car from anyone else if they have a turbo, and even them some still fail.
Cheer up guys, we have a great car that with some tweaks becomes an amazing car. Nothing to feel ashamed about.

I don't know about you guys, but I feel ashamed. I'm constantly being beaten on the street by guys in the new Cobalt SS. It's really quite pathetic. I bought my S2k to race in a straight line after seeing the pink one in 2 Fast 2 Furious. I thought it was going to be fast right out of the box. It's not any fun to drive in the mountains - I want to have to keep a turbo spooled and have fwd. I wish now that I would have bought an EVO or STi.
You gotta be kidding! Every April I and a couple hundred other S2000s tear up a chunk of road in the Smoky mountains called the Dragon - 318 turns in 11.1 mile - and last year the Evo that tried to keep pace lost it in a corner - What you are really saying is you wish you had a Pony car - something to drag with. If drag is what your into, thats cool, but don't disrespect the S for being a real sportscar. Besides - Forbes says this car is one of their 10 best collector cars for under $40,000. Be proud of your car. IMHO - In five years the Cobalt will be junk - and your S will be worth much more.
^ You could ask the driver of the Cobalt..opss nevermind you can't catch him....
J/k the cobalt is a hell of a car...but to those that are mad that it is faster than the S2000 rest assured that the majority of people, when asked, would take the S2000 before the SS.....IMO...

-Unique engine that no other car gets

-The Cobalt SS might be faster around the track, but there is no way it's as much fun to drive.
-There was a lot more engineering effort that went into this car than the Cobalt SS, the Lancer Rally-Art, etc. If Honda was looking to make the fastest car and make it cheap, they could very easily throw on a turbo/sc and make it a coupe so that it's body is more rigid and they could make the car lighter, but they made a roadster that is more fun to drive than most of the cars on the road that I see today.
-More N/A horsepower per liter than any car I can think of off the top of my head.
If you don't like it, then sell it and buy your little FI cars. Why did someone create another one of these threads?

I also agree that my car with over 300whp retains all of those traits, and is now faster than a good majority of cars on the road. Next spring with over 400 reliable whp, I'll still have a very unique 9k rpm car that still gets looks 10 years later, and will be able to give myself a kick in the seat.
The stock S2000 is slow, and I see no harm in improving on a factory design. 300+whp with all of the above right now is more than enough to excite me.
