S2K vs MR2
The MR2 is very rear weight bias.....so even though they weigh the same as an S2000 at 2800lbs the S2000 should beat it in the handling deparment due to it's more perfect weight distribution.......as for straight line well the MR2 is a fast machine and it will eat you alive in the first 2 gears if your are not ready. The S2000 will win by 3rd gear. But if you are a really good launcher than you will hang with them in the first 2 gears and beat them by the time you shift into 3rd. As for highway the S2000 should always win............ can I get a witness
The above is true if both cars are stock. But as we all know how mod friendly turbo cars are............if you spent $10,000 on each car...............the MR2 will be serving the S2000 on a platter well done!!!
Man...those second generation MR2's are pretty quick. I had an 86 first generation MR2 as my first car and I loved it. I remember driving a modded 1991 Turbo with just over 300 horsepower and it was extremely quick.
It sounds as though the stock S2K can beat the stock MR2 easily. Cool topic...always been a fan of the MR2

Go Jspec on the MR2 Turbo. curious about the (AMERICAN SPEC) comment. Was it the power that made you hold back, six?
US Spec 95 MR2 Turbo = 200hp 200lb ft tq.
J-SPEC 95 MR2 Turbo = 245 hp 225 lb ft tq. It was the torque wasn't it.
I've seen what an MR2 Turbo can do. I driven an S2000 and witnessed what it is capable of. Performance wise, this is only the quarter mile mind you, MR2's have an edge. Track is a different story.
I'll admit that S2000's are amazing machines, they handle with the greatest of ease with great feedback from the donuts to the wheel. But don't lose track of the MR2 cuz it does all those things also. Being an MR2 owner I am biased but can't deny what's out there. The MR2's heritage is also track laced. Of the two cars, I'd naturally lean to the MR2 not only because of it's superb handling but also it's power, contemporary styling, uniqueness with it's MR layout, and reliabilty being that it's a TOYOTA . And my very close 2nd would be the S2000 because I don't have to think as hard about not messing up while taking corners in an S2000, than when I'm in my MR2.

I put the American spec, because I'm talking about realistic terms. A j-spec MR2 would be a rare find here in the environmentally concerned United States of America (unlike the j-spec, the S2k passes the strictest emission standards). If I wanted to modify my phrasing, I could have referred to a slightly blown S2K vs a j-spec MR2. I'm talking about stocks here.
Oh yeah, I think I've seen you around. Too bad you only caught my hazards.
