There are a lot of variables in comparisons like this, I mean you cannot really say "I was able to keep up with an NSX" just like that. There are a lot of other things that come into play. I was able to keep up with some seriously fast cars in my stock Passat 1.8T on all seasons.
Unless you drove the S2000 back to back on the clock with the NSX I don't think you can just blanket statement like that.
You can say you were unimpressed, but thats about it. But no harm no foul. I think it really, really boils down to the driver, bench racing isn't very accurate, nor helpful.

'91 NSX vs any other '91 vehicle.
Ferrari, Porsche, etc. The NSX tore up the track for years in complete stock form. Now is a '91 NSX going to beat a '11 GT2 RS? Of course not.
