You guys are all so practical. That thing on the book case that your significant other calls art must really bug you. It serves absolutely no purpose [sic].
Ok, so huge GT Wings and asphalt gouging front bars don't fall under many peoples definition of art, but as you say, to each his own.
Why do people buy a Civic, or Hyundai Excel and spend as much as an S2000 costs on aero kits and the like? Well, because it's an expression of themselves, just like art. I really respect the custom car scene. Doesn't mean I agree with it or want to do it to my S though, but I won't call them stupid. Also, you can't walk into a dealer and buy an S for $10K, then in a couple of months spend 2K, then $4K. It's 32K (at best) upfront.
BTW, in other circles I've heard people say, 'Why buy an S2000 that can do 200km per hour when the average speed limit is 70km. That's just stupid'. I guess they've got a point too.
