Default Is the s2k worth the $30k price tag value?

I've been doing much researching and learning about ins and outs of many differemt cars this past year. Got a big decision to make later this year..........

S2k is pretty much off my list as I just owned a nice SC MY00 AP1, and life is too short to have the same cars with so much out there. But I still do like the s2k and if I had to go back to an s2k I would do the AP2 06-07 for newness and also I like the new blue.

When thinking more about the price tag of cars out there now compared to the s2k...It got me thinking that is it justified to pay $30k+ brand new for an s2k which has essentially remained the same since 99 with minor improvement?

Watching new models and constant major improvements of other cars each year, videos showing that the s2k isn't as sharp as the competition anymore, car mags who don't even use the s2k in testing are a few examples.

I remember back in 99-00 and the s2k was the terror of every competitor out there - P cars, BMW, everyone...Easily could see it $30k+! back then. The value of it was great. The 350z is now crazy, 13.3 have supposedly been seen so for a MY07 and still does well on a track. Just one example.

But now, 8 years later and essentially no significant improvements....

Oh and still a joke if the s2000 CR goes for $40k...had to throw that in there. Actually some Dealers still try to llist the 2007 s2k in the NorthWest as 38-40k , I could imagine them to list CR as $50k...........

it's worth it as much as an elise or atom is worth the asking prices.

it's a special machine that does a special job.

for most consumers, no it is NOT worth it.

the g37 seems to be the king for all around bang/buck

I agree. For my purposes the only competition anywhere near the price is the Elise or one of the Super 7 variants. With the 7's you get wet when it rains, and the seats in the Elise are too hard for my bony butt. What else can you get for less than six figures that gives you a better illusion of driving a race car on the street?

Does anyone really think an Enzo is worth the going price? Specialty cars just cost whatever they cost.

The S offers as much of the "race car for the street" as I care to live with, so for me it was the only choice. Sometimes I still wonder if I'd have enjoyed an Elise more, but since Tripper got his it's easy enough to sit in it and recall why I went with the S instead.

well there is no way to improve the engine engine anyways.. Do you know a way to improve it and would keeps the durability of the car? I think that car is already MAX OUT!!! So far do you see any car would match up to its spec? that why they throw in the V6 and stuff. Compare to 4 bangers the S is in its own class.
The more you know about the S the more you love it. Sound like you need to learn more about it.

Didn't you have a supercharged S2000 for like 2 weeks before returning to stock?

What are you currently driving?

How many cars are you able to afford at once?

What's your predicted use for the car: daily driver, weekends, garage queen?

For a daily driver, I'd get a G37 or BMW 335.

If you can afford a nice daily driver and this is a weekend car, I'd buy a used Elise for $35k.

I personally wouldn't trade my S2000 (boosted, geared, upgraded stereo) for an Elise as I like the trunk space and conservative styling of the Honda... but if the car was stolen and totaled, that's what I'd look at to replace it.

But if it was anything but a strict weekend and dry weather car, I'd think of something with a GT niche.

Someday, I'm looking to purchase a used mint 997 GT3 for the "fun car."

but yeah like CKit stated ..it really depends on what you're gonna be using the car for.before i purchased my S i had considered the E46 vert but i thought that car was way overpriced for the performance..
