As for the TSB database, that was actually a dealer service rating database which allows people to post comments about the quality of service received and rate dealers performance. That feature is almost complete, I'm actually in the process of finishing it off now and it should be online by the end of the week. It will include listings of all US and UK dealers, member comments, ratings and proximity (distance) searching. It's actually part of a much wider program some of which you will see, some you wont.

We have no immediate plans to track and record vehicle service and maintenance histories. Honda has such a thing already called hondaowner.com or some such.
There is no database that owners can go to for questions like "How many other owners have had their clutch replaced?" What the Atlanta site will be creating is a searchable database that an owner can get an idea of how many others have had a similar problem, where it was fixed, how much the fix cost, and if the work was done satisfactory. It's one thing to have a "Dealer Rating" page but quite another to have info as to how many other owners (that we know of) have experienced the same problem. I believe this feature will be of real value in the coming years.

Honda will not give out this type of information, I'm sure any automotive manufacturer does not want the public to know things like how many engines have been replaced under warranty in a particular model that they make. If owners put something together that is organized and verifiable this would empower other owners to have some leverage when faced with a serious problem. This is simply a gathering of public knowledge.

Frankly, I'm pretty disappointed at Honda's tracking of service issues. Even a Service Manager at a local dealer cannot bring up this kind of information. They can't even find service information on your VIN if the service was performed at another dealership, Honda's service database is not linked! From what I've been told, other manufacturers do have linked service records. If I buy a used Ford Mustang I can go to the Ford dealer and pull all service records on that VIN. Not true for Honda.

Honda builds great cars that have world class engineering, however, as many S2000 owners are finding, the dealership network and Honda customer satisfaction are not always up to par.
