Default Clutch is being replaced, what other problems will be found?????

How common is it to have your clutch disk replaced and the mechanic finding that you have a cracked or burnt pressure plate and fly wheel. My car hasn't been abused, but it has been driven. I have 18k on it and 3/4 of those mile are HWY. How can you tell if you have a fly wheel problem, other than inspection?

You might need to have the flywheel turned but unlikely. It's a good time to have a lightweight flywheel installed tho. I had mine done for free with some other tranny work

What flywheel did you go with?????
I really want to do as you suggested, but the car is in the shop first thing in morning. The only way I will get an after market flywheel is if mine is all ready damaged beyond repair and Honda makes me pay for a new one.
Toda is lighter than Spoon right???? Which is the easiest to find and get over nighted?

Thanks

This is sounding all too common for my liking...

The same story over and over, (S2000 owner) "I took my car in for TSB 54 and I need new clutch, fly wheel, pressure plate, throughout bearing... Honda won't pay for it since they say the clutch is a wear item."

Should the rest of us be having second thoughts about buying this car? Should we just go ahead and budget to have these parts replaced before 30,000 miles like so many others already have?

What's the deal here?

The Honda Service Manual explicitly states, "Do not resurface the flywheel." My guess is that the flywheel is already a minimum thickness. There should be no reason to replace the flywheel unless you've worn the clutch plate rivets into the flywheel surface. As for performance gains from an aftermarket flywheel, that's up to you to decide.
