S2ks on BAT
Ohh HEEEeellllllL yeah!
too many of them on BaT. 6 months ago I’d have told you that’s the place to sell. I’d argue that the window has passed for now, hold for 6 months and see what the market does...
Luckily, I’m not looking to sell mine. Maybe ever.

S2kys' impudence aside, I understand that color combinations can often have an impact on pricing. Regardless of the color, I personally was thinking that specific car was going to sell for somewhere between $18K and $19K, for a few different reasons. Yes the car had low miles, but just as importantly it was in fantastic shape and was presented pretty well overall. My comment only had to do with the single car, not the market overall. I follow the market and I do find it quite interesting, but I'm not worried about it. Whether the trend is up or down, the only place my car is going at the end of the day is back in the garage. I'm sure that I'd be happy with the money I could get for my S2K — but not as happy as the car itself makes me.

That car fell just about in line with recent market trends. Just pointing out the correlation. S2000s are one of the few cars that deserve to be driven and appreciated over anything else, and to be quite honest I’d be much more content finding a gem like Deckoz did in his intro thread with high miles on it but essentially immaculate as opposed to a low-mileage car with an insane premium for being just that. At the end of the day it’s a fun Honda, I’m hoping most of the people buying them are driving them or have intentions to do so, we don’t need these becoming the next MKIV Supra.
People can comment all day long on what they think other people should be doing with these cars. I’m open to constructive, helpful advice, a big part of why I hang out here is to glean knowledge from others. But anyone telling me what I should or shouldn’t do with my car in terms of driving it based solely on their opinion can stick a sock in it. Others can do what they want with their cars. I spend my own time and money how I see fit.
My biggest interest in following the market for these cars is to make sure that I have my own S properly insured. I personally don’t care if others are buying these cars to stick them away in storage or to daily them. What I do care about is how much people are paying for these cars regardless of how they are going to be used (or not used for that matter). Having dealt with a stolen car that was just entering into the collectible realm at the time I’m keenly aware of the difference a good insurance policy can make.
I am not interested in selling my S. I’m not concerned with how much of a profit I could make off of it or not. What I am interested in is enjoying this car for as long as I can in the the way I see fit.. For me personally, that means having my car properly insured. The best way to make sure that I have the coverage I need is by staying on top of the market for these cars. Watching the percentage of owners modify these cars along with how that impacts the demand both for those cars as well as the demand for my own car all comes into play. It would seem that a glut of S2Ks showing up on BAT may or may not have an impact as well. Personally I haven’t decided whether or not that is the case. Whether it does or it doesn’t, I still find it all rather interesting.
