S800 Road & Track June 2007 Issue
Please Honda, not this...

I understand the need for more comfort and an automatic transmission to help sell more cars. But why even say a 4 passenger car is the S2000 replacement? Make a 3.5 liter RWD Accord. Make a RWD Civic with the 2.4L engine.
Make the S2000 replacement a 9,000 RPM 3.0 liter V6 with 300 HP and 300 lb-ft. with a 7 speed sequential gearbox. Throw in a little more legroom and a hardtop convertible to keep the cabin quiet. Call it the S3000. That would be my next car.

It's no lie, there is a short article about the rumored new Honda sportscar in the 60th Anniversary Issue of Road and Track, available at all the usual outlets. Sorry I can't scan a drawing of the rumored sucessor to the S2K, but it's a cute little thing.
Said to be about the size of the Miata, to be equipped with the K20A (Civic) powerplant, about 200 bhp and 160 ft-lb.
To weigh under 2800 lb and perhaps cost under $30K (!)
The article also mentions the possibility of a "semiautomatic transmission". No chain drive is mentioned.
The Honda S800 comparison is drawn because the new car is said to be "smaller and more civil" than our pride and joy.

im very curious to the "new" S800 design
but i wont buy, im happy with my AP1
and i hope value jumps when were discontinued. although i see it as a sad ending, but what other improvements can you do to a car that started off without needing them?

I think they would climb in value. They would become even more rare and the current owners would be thinking twice before trading (up?) to something else because they always knew they could come back to the S2000 at anytime.
Yes ,I think re-sale value would deffinatly increase.
I don't know the answer to this but what happened to the TR6?. This car had about a $5,000 sticker price new and probably demands a simular price today.
Add to demend ,the ongoing inflation rate almost guarantees that the S will decrease in value less than almost any other car.

I think the car will climb in value with it's discontinuation or at the very least decrease in value less as in depreciation than almost any other car made.
IMO, the sooner they stop producing this car the better for current owners..
