Default Safe a/f ratio?

Just wondering what would be considered a safe a/f ratio. How lean is too lean?

Get it dyno tuned.

I think I remember reading somewhere in F/I that an A/F ratio of 12 is dangerously lean, and 18 is alot better. Sorry if I sound like a noob, but I'm trying to learn as much info as I can. What would happen if you went too lean? Would the engine just stall? Wouldn't it be worse to go too rich?

The more lean you run, the more power you make (most of the times)... But if you run too lean for too long, your gonna burn a hole in your piston... It's a very bad idea too run too lean.. It's better to be on the richer side.

12 is rich and 18 is way lean.

A safe a/f is dependant on engine load. You can go pretty lean under high vacuum.

13.4 under WOT should be safe while still getting nice power!

for NA... should be somewhere around 13.5~14.7(limit?) for max performance.. F/I ppl should run no greater than 12... running over 12wot, with boost u are walking on thin ice.

12:1 at WOT is ok

14-15 at partial throttle is ok, driving on the street
