Is it safe to Vtec?

Always, ALWAYS make sure you Vtec fluid is full. And always make sure to save some Vtec fluid for the rapid run to the clinic! Anyone remember the doosh who thought they could build a meter to show how much vtec they had left?

you have to make sure the flux capacitor is properly functioning... otherwise you'll blow the engine going into v-tec.

Really? Where did you get this information/research from? I've never read this kind of stuff before, but who would keep the engine at redline for more than 10 minutes at a time anyway.
It was a common occurrence and common knowledge at that place that engines will last at maximum design conditions not for hours, but weeks at a time. That's how manufacturers have to make them if they want to release the product to thousands of people, and to keep a good name. It may sound scary, but the engine can definitely handle it.
It's probably worse to start/ stop the car than to redline it. There is hardly any metal-metal contact at redline. At that point it's a matter of a few simple formulas, and whether the engineers got their math right. And Honda isn't known for shoddy engineering.
VTEC is the first and only implementation of the power of Chuck Norris in a car. At 6000 rpm, the miniscule amount of Chuck Norris built into each motor is unleashed for a short period of time, allowing us to feel (if only just barely) what it feels like to be hit by the greatest man of all time.
I believe Jeremy Clarkson said it best on the top gear episode with the S2000 vs Porsche Boxter vs BMW Z4, "Honda has made over 15 million of these engines (with v-tech, also not sure about the exact number I'm close I think) since its introduction in 19XX and up until this date there hasn't been one failure."
Go Jeremy Clarkson, you rule and have the best job ever!

Is it some sort of variable timing that allows more fuel to enter the chamber causing rapid acceleration? I am confused.
