I just picked up an '05 with 8 miles (now a bit more than 400 ). I dealt with every dealer in the SoFla area and I had prices of 28,500 to 34K thrown at me. In the end, I went with the one that was 29.5K, with the $500 dealer fee waived. Add in th $500 shipping and I was at 30K - which was pretty close once all the "deals" had their costs calculated. I was paying cash, no trade in so that wasn't a factor. So with tax (6.5%) + registration + chromed wheels, came in at 33K - for SoFla a decent, not great deal. If I'd been willing to forgo the red-interior and not go with Sebring or Silverstone, I could have saved about $800. Good luck - now is a good time to get the 05's off the lot at a decent price.

you should be able to get a new one around that 29k--29.5k mark--Honda is offering dealers $750 cash back on 2005 S2000s (you can find it in the "incentives" section of Edmunds.com) and there's also a dealer holdback that's around 3% so "true" dealer cost right now on a leftover 05 is around 28585 (30335 invoice less 750 less 1000 (approx 3%)
If you look on eBay--you'll find 3-4 new 05's from dealers going for around 28,800 to 29,400 under "buy it now". I found a new one from a Honda dealer in New England and bid low and got a new 05 for just under $28. I have to fly up there and drive it back next wekend (airfare is about $260) but the drive back will give me time to get acquainted with the car.
The Honda dealers on eBay usualy list their phone numbers--I called several and talked to them before I bid and they couldn't have been nicer--they've usually sold a lot of cars via eBay and will walk you thru the process (they did me) The dealer I actually bought from has been wonderful and is picking me up at the airport and will have the car gassed up and ready to go. may want to try eBay.
another choice is autotrader.com there are dozens of new 05 200 listed but most of them are listed a sticker or close to it although a few dealers have them agressively priced.
Good luck in your search!

Hey all, thanks for the posts. So, saying that I got an OTD price of 33k or less, that would be ok in your eyes?

I don't know your state sales tax but that sounds like a good price.
another option---there's a Honda dealer just outside Omaha (Bellevue NE) that has 2 05's (one yellow and one silverstone) on their showroom floor--they want $29,399 --you would have either pay to ship it or go get it but that's the lowest price I know of right now. I spoke to the dealer (Melissa at 800-247-5341) neither one has been driven and they would help figure out shipping for you. I found one in NE for a bit less so I went there but this is a good deal also---here's the link--you can call her and she'll sell it direct for the $29,399 price

Johnny--I PM'd you back--guess I didn't see the CA sales restriction--do CA cars have a different emissions requirement? If so, it may limit you to only those from CA dealers but you could use this info in your dealings
good luck!
